Eleven Teams Crowned Coastal Cup Champions

The 7th Annual Coastal Cup Championships were held May 2-4 at the Dream Sports Center in Raleigh. It was another awesome event. Tight games in gold, silver and bronze tiers, skills contests, fastest-shot contests, award ceremonies, Outback Steakhouse give aways... there was something for everyone.

Thanks For Another Great Year!
I just want to take a few minutes to thank everyone for their support of Coastal Cup during this year. Your continued support of our series allows us to continue to grow each and every year.

Some of you have been around from the very start and have seen how much we have grown. But despite that growth, we remain focused on the same things we focused on in the beginning... putting together a fun, competitive tournaments for players at the club travel team level. We have remained committed to that vision since our start seven years ago and not coincidentally the number of teams playing in Coastal Cup continues to grow. (Wow... can you believe it? This upcoming season will be our eighth, making Coastal Cup one of the oldest tournament series in the United States.)

We are already looking forward to the 2003-2004 season. We are considering a few tournaments in Florda and Virginia next year and are excited about the challenges facing us as we try to attract some new teams into our series. Most of our regular tournament stops will be on the schedule again for next year. We will also be looking at some new facilities that have opened within our region.

I would really like your feedback concerning Coastal Cup. What do we do well? What do we do poorly? How is the refereeing? (relative to other tournaments.... we all know that ALL referees are absolutely horrible, but are ours more horrible than the others?). Do you like our schedules? Do you like our formats? These are just some food for thought ideas. Please email any comments to me so that we can continue to improve every year.

I have already begun working on the schedule for 2003-04. I anticipate that it will be posted on our web site sometime around August 1.

Good luck to those of you who will continue playing tournaments during the summer.

As always we appreciate your feedback. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, do not hesitate to contact us. See you in October!

Thanks!
Jay
