    Problem with my Bauer Rocker-Chasis

I've got a pair of Bauer Vapor 3's (I think they're 2001's model... yellow aluminium main chasis, with the black plastic rocker section). Anyway, my problem involves one of the axle-screws in one of the rocker sections.

I guess I have a tendancy to overtighten the axle screws, which has created the following problem: You know how Bauer's only need to be unscrewed from one side because the other side sort of "locks" into an indented oval-shaped section of the chasis? Well, the problem is that for one of the screws, I guess it's so tight that trying to unscrew it actually has 'worn away' the oval indent on the opposite side, so there's nothing to 'catch' that side of the axle, and now the whole thing pretty much rotates freely when I try to unscrew it.

I figure I've got two options. I can try to drill out this screw and then replace that axle with a 'two-sided' one (ie: and axle that can be unscrewed from both sides). Or, I'll have to somehow purchase a new rocker-portion of the chasis from Bauer, to replace the worn section.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks!

Think you have it covered, unless you just want to switch to a an aftermarket hi/lo. However as much as you seem to like the rocker chassis that does not sound like an alternative for you.

Nah, I think I'll stick with the rocker, thanks :-)
I'm wondering, though, if anyone has any idea how much it might cost to replace the part? And is there a possability that it might even be difficult to find such a part (seeing as it's from a model from 2 years ago, and now Bauer seems to have moved toward that carbon-type stuff for the chasis)?

if the dimensions are the same - it shouldn't matter, otherwise just drill it out and replace it with a hex head axle and some lock-tite. Maybe want to counter bore the head area first so it seats properly.

    hey Geoff,
Give Bauer C/S a call. I am sure they can send you the parts you need. If they can't help you send me a private and I will get you the parts. I know people at Bauer that will take care of me. I also use the rocker but mine is all carbon fiber. I think you can use the newer parts though but I am not sure..

    Hey rlrhky13, thanks so much!
In another week (after my semester's over) I'll be checking out the local hockey shops to see if they can help me out (ie: order the part from Bauer). If not, I'll try calling them myself, and if that doesn't work I'll get back to you.. Thanks again!

Actually, another quick question for you:
Seeing as the skates were purchased less than a year ago (and hence are still under warranty), do you have any idea if this sort of repair/replacement might actually be covered under warranty?

it should be covered then if they are under a year old. I would give the local shop a call and if they don't know call bauer directly.
