First to cover Inline Hockey
Okay which would you rather have cover Inline hockey first?
A newspaper ie New York Times
TV show ie Sportscenter
Radio Show ie Dan Patrick Show(ESPN radio)
Magazine ie Sports Illustrated
Name which you would like to see be the first to cover inline hockey, give some details like which newspaper or magazine if a tv or radio show name the station the show etc.
Personally I'd like to see Sportscenter would cover it. But any coverage is good coverage.

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
There is a key to what we mean by "cover." What we want is the same, equal, depth of coverage that other pro sports get. Features, daily scores, highlights, etc.
I recognize, and it is indeed the subject of maybe 40% of the discourse of this entire discussion group, that maybe our sport ain't quite there yet when it comes to rating this type of coverage.
That does not mean, however, that we have to settle for being portrayed as the carnival side show.
What we don't want is the once-in-a-blue-moon comedy or fluff piece that portrays the sport as anything except mainstream. I don't need my program, or any program, on record as this week's freak show...
not too much paranoia over here, eh?

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
sportscenter, that would get the most people interested into roller hockey, magazines and papers I think appeal to a smaller group. I know most kids my age watch sportscenter before they go to school, so I think overall that would be the best choice to reach the most people.

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
Personally a major(preferably cover) story in SI maybe on the success(assumptions here) of team USA at the World Cup, would probably have a ripple effect with other media, simply because of the prestige long associated with an SI cover story.

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
I would prefer one of the three big networks (ABC, NBC, or CBS) to cover inline hockey. I would like it for the major international events, etc.
I think with them, the sport could reach more audiences

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
Definitley but would you like to have them show it on something like Dateline and 60 minutes, or as the local ones in major metropolitan areas show a feature on it? But you might reach the younger generation by having it on ESPN or something along those lines, but either way the sport wins.

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
That would definitley be great for the sport. And that's what's important here. But SI would probably look more favorably on a story with some emotion to it, not the US winning big. But winning is winning. And wouldn't it be interseting to get Rick Rileys take on inline hockey.

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
Definitley, I do my homework watching Sportscenter and alot of kids, myself included, talk about what they saw on Sportscenter. Once doing an paper for health I was watching Sportscenter and I ended up writing what they were saying by accident.

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
Definitley we want in depth coverage but hey this weeks SI had an issue on caving (I never head of it before!) so why not one on inline hockey?
Anyone got Sports Illustrated connections?

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
ESPN, would be the way to go, preferably a sportscenter feature. They show dog shows and sailing on ESPN, why not inline hockey. lol
-
Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
LOL yeah they also show cheerleading national championships the national poker championships, wheres the love for inline hockey?
-
Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
True, some of that stuff is terrible that they show. Really who would want to watch a game of pool? I dont really think that is too much of a tv friendly sport. lol

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
I am the same way, in the mourning that is what most guys talk about at my school, I think it would defiently spark a lot of intrest to show it on SC, espically with sports loving people.

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
Spelling bees are on ESPN also. That is what really sucks.

Re: First to cover Inline Hockey
