    MAR D-I Top-6

Here's my current take on the rankings in Division I of the
Mid-Atlantic Region after two weekends of play. Since there are only
11 or so teams in the first division, I figured that a top-6 is more
relevant than a top-10. Keep in mind, only games against divisional
    opponents count towards records.
    So,

    1. Altoona - No real divisional tests this weekend. Undefeated with
    with one tie.
    2. Delaware - Haven't played Altoona or PITT; will have a clearer
picture after they play both; tied Penn State 3-3 - blew
their chance at going against Altoona and PITT with no
losses or ties; undefeated with one tie
    3. Pittsburgh - Disappointing 1-1 tie with JMU; undefeated with two ties-
    Lost step on Altoona.
    4. Penn State - Back in te saddle...sort of... 3-3 tie with Delaware;
10-3 blowout of RIT last weekend a turning point after a
disappointing start; two losses in divisional record (pitt, alt)
    5. RIT - Haven't played anyone above in the poll except Penn State;
(10-3L); one loss on the season
    6. JMU - faced 47 shots against PITT, but tied 1-1; lost to Delaware
    7-0... go figure

    anyone have better opinions?

    hey,
given its only our second year Northeastern University should be considered an up and coming team. in jersey we beat James Madison and would've done the same to deleware if the ref's got their heads out of their ass's (lost7-6). everyone talks about these teams but no one seemed to recognize us as an upcoming team. we won our league last year and we are looking to make an impact this year, look out

    Dear Northeastern,
The poll is MAR TOP-6, not general Top-6, eastern U.S. top-6, etc. If such were the case, the rankings wouldn't be restricted to active MAR-clubs. Since it is, and your school is not an active participant in the MAR, you can't be on the rankings.
Also, everyone has lost a close game that didn't go their way. In such cases, it is pretty easy to find an excuse for the outcome. Why would you go on and blame the MAR officials? Would you blame them if you won 7-6? You lost because you scored 6 and Delaware scored 7. Maybe in the future you'll know better than to participate in MAR events-seeing how their refs are terrible and all the teams are inferior to yours.
    Where is your sportsmanship?

    Re: MAR D-I Top-6

Here's my updated MAR D-1 top-6 at end of half:
    1. Altoona- lost a disappointing game to NorthEastern
but remains the team to beat in the MAR. tied
    JMU, but so did PITT.
    2. Pittsburgh- Win vs. Purdue (2-1) shows for a vast
improvement after a 2-0 loss to PSU (non-
league)...A very close second to slumping 'toona
    3. PSU- disappointing showing at Midwest accounts for
their drop. Lost 10-3 to Purdue; 4-2(?) to U
of Michigan. Could be on top if gain
    consistency.
    4. Delaware- All tests will come in the second half. Tied
PSU 6-6; Beat Northeastern 7-6. Otherwise,
not much to judge on. Look for them to move
up in the rankings in the spring.
    5. RIT- Failed only big test- 9-3 loss to PSU. Very
strong team- will have all their tests in
    second half
    6. JMU- Solid defensive team with great goaltending.
    tied Altoona. tied PITT
    Honorable Mention:
Northeastern(NECRHA)- first team to dethrone Altoona
    this season.(7-6)

    Re: MAR D-I Top-6

I agree, NU has no place on this list, but to imply that our 7-6 loss was completely our fault is not true. UDelaware scored 4 pp goals and i'd say about 3 of those calls were total BS. Now obviously i'm alittle biased but i think reputation had and will always have a big influence on who gets the calls...Aparentely we made a big enough impression as we got a few key calls in our win this past weekend against PSU - Altoona!

hey nooner, insted of complaining about how you lost a game cuz of the refs, if you would have burried the puck on a few more of your chances, you would have one the game. just cuz the ref blows the whistle, i dont think theyre out what so ever to blow the game for an underdog. furthermore, a team wins and looses as a team, and not by what an official does....maybe if youd look at the big picture and realize that you got scored on 7 times, and thought about playing a bit of defense, youd survive as one of the fittest...
