Welcome!

The SCHL has begun its fifth season in grand style! The league has instituted it's new division system making most games much more competitive then in seasons past.

The season started with Division 1 on 10/7/00. There were some great early season games! The UTA and OU rivalry stems from last season's three game series in the semi-finals of the playoffs. OU forced UTA to three games before bowing out in a one goal game. This season, OU returned with a vengeance to beat UTA 6-2. Other mentionables are rookie Dale Baird, UTA with a league leading 13 points and OU's Robin Reeves sporting a great 1.33 GA and an outstanding .879 SA%. UNT continues their unbeaten streak this season starting out 6-0-0. TAMU and SWT struggle early in the season but have high hopes of regaining stature in the league.

Division 2 started play at the brand new Shoot Out facility in Spring, TX. Amazingly, this event saw no game with more than a 4-goal difference. The games were very competitive and closely matched. There were two tie games and several two-goal games. SFA and SHSU renewed their rivalry as SFA snipped SHSU by one goal late in the game. Some mentionables are Brad Leonard, ACU with 8 points and NU's Kevin Duvel stopping a great .923 SA%
and maintaining a GAA of 1.00.

Division 3 is a small division this season. TCC and CCCC will meet several times this season to determine who will lift the D3 cup at the end of the season. The D3 teams will play exhibition games against the D1 teams throughout the season. So far, the games have been very competitive! TCC leads the division 2-0-0, however both games with CCCC have been closely matched.

The B teams have started what will most likely be a very competitive season. Texas Tech was able to get two full teams to participate this season. This is an incredible accomplishment! The Tech program has soared to over 60 participants! Early in the D4 season, UNT leads the pack, but they are not unbeatable with a record of 3-1-2.

The league traveled out to Power Play in Midland TX. This is a top-notch facility with a great set of boards and a huge surface. Several teams got to meet the local constables as they sped there way across west Texas, however, the event was a huge success. Local TV stations attended and several broadcasts made the Midland news that night. The D2 teams should really look forward to this trip. Midland is a first-class facility with a superb staff!

The SCHL Board of Directors (BOD) will meet at the upcoming Regional on November 11-12. The BOD will discuss all aspects of this season and make plans for the remainder of the season. If you would like the BOD to discuss a particular issue, please send your suggestion to the league commissioner, Jim Helmbrecht, at: [email protected]. The SCHL would like to extend a very special thanks to the inaugural BOD for all their efforts and time. The BOD is responsible for all aspects of SCHL operation.

Photos and videos have been posted on the website. Check them out! If you or someone you know gets some great SCHL action caught on tape, please submit it to the league so that the footage may be used in the 2000-2001 Season Highlight Reel.

If you are interested in writing for the SCHL Newsletter or for the SCHL web site, please email the league commissioner with your article or story and it will promptly be posted.

Note: This season, the SCHL has provided an Event Manager for each and every SCHL event. The Event Manager's duties include maintaining the event schedule, dealing with disciplinary issues and making sure that the event runs smoothly. If at any time, you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Event Manager immediately.
