    Removing C-clip

What common tool can I use to successfully remove the c-clip out of the bearing? I am in college and I have limited access to tools, and I need to get the clips off immediately before next practice.

Just use a pin, or an unfolded paper clip...run it along the crease until you hit the adge of the clip, then get it underneath, and get that sucker out!

    Advice:

After cleaning my bearings numerous times, I found it's often alot easier just to shell out money and buy new bearings rather than take the time to clean them. It just takes too long, and it's a tremendous pain the butt. I could never get the smell of the citric acid degreaser off of my hands (it's better than the traditional "Hockey Hand", but still...).

But, hey, we're in college. We're both broke. So, I feel your pain here.

You can use the tip of a safety pin, an unbent staple, or the sharp tip of a knife. It is best to Hook the point of the "tool" to the side of the C-Clip that is angled away from the bearing. It looks like this \_____ with the outside of the bearing being the bottom side.

After you successfully remove the clips, there is no need to reinstall the bearing sheild and clip to one side of the bearing. Just fit the bearing back into the wheel with the newly exposed area to the inside of the wheel hub.

    Good Luck!!!

I read on a site that using a push pin works well, and I found that sharpening the point of the pin with a file or dremel tool helps even more. Thanks for your help people!

The pin works real good for me versus the paper clip, but it took me a few years to figure the push pin trick out
