High School League

Can anyone give details or tell me where to find information on the High School League operating in America? I am wondering how it is setup, who sanctions it, who funds it (players/school), is it local/interstate/national, age groups, do the schools supply the gear or individuals, and basically any other info you can offer.
We are looking to set the same thing up in Australia.

Each state is different. In Colorado, the official high school sports organization CHSAA (Colorado High School Athletic Association) wouldn't add roller hockey to thier program, so a group of parents got together. They are not having an easy time. The schools administrators don't seem to be cooperating very much. Take a look at http://www.chsiha.org/ . Search through their web site and you'll see some of the problems they have run in to. Make sure you read http://www.chsiha.org/press.asp . This is parent funded and organized. The rinks around the state have been very helpful.

Here in ohio we have a group of parents who are looking to start one... we had one a few years back before i was in high school... we had a problem with too many fights and the school rivalry was pretty bad... but now they want to start another one...in th old one the schools provided a logo and got them screened on jeseys and pants that they gave but that was it.

To slow down the fights, align yourselves with an established ogranization. The SoCal league is sanctioned by USA Hockey Inline. The Colorado league si sanctioned by USARS. The refs are certified and the sanctions carry a little more weight.

Contact Joe Dumars Fieldhouse in Michigan ( all their info is on the web at www.drha.com ). Local high school teams play there, and they have been running a successful high school league for 5 years now. It has become a varsity sport at these schools, and the schools recognize the teams. How much funding or other details i'm not sure, but contact someone from Joe Dumars and they can tell you. Currently they have 47 high school teams, some junior varsity, some varsity. check it out.

Australia all ready has an Inlien Hockey League for High schools its been around for the past 10 months and is called the IIHL(Interschool Inline Hockey League). The IIHL has had over 29 different High Schools participate in it so far with many more booked in. It was only announced a week ago that the IIHL will be expanding into Primary School and Universities. The IIHL is expanding nationally but is currently based in Victoria out of Puckhandlers Roller Sports Stadium the Australian Hockey Rink. Both players and schools fund it and supply equipment as this varies from school to school! The Whole idea of the IIHL is to develop Inline Hockey and get new players into teh sport since the IIHL was founded we have had aproximatley 130 new palyers participate in Inlien Hockey. in missouri, we have about 90 teams (varsity,junior varsity, and c). most teams are reconigzed by the schools but not sponsered by them. http://www.moiha.org
