how does pool play affect play off seeding?
how does pool play affect play off seeding?
Pool Play doesn't really effect seeding.
For example,
Lindenwood, cal pol, long beach, and MSU are going to be ranked 1,2,3,4 pool play will determine which number they get.
I'm a little confused on how the pools were picked however.
Eastern Michigan over GVS?
Long beach and Cal pol over UC santa barbara? I guess it doesn't matter, but i disagree with those decisions.
Just for fun....
Pool A
Lindenwood (3-0)
Cal poly (1-1-1)
MSU (1-1-1)
Long beach (0-3)
Pool B
Ohio State (3-0)
UC Santa Barbara (2-1)
Bethel (1-2)
West Chester (0-3)
Pool C
UNLV (2-0-1)
UMSL (2-1)
Eastern Michigan (1-1-1)
Stony Brook (0-3)
Pool D
Grand Valley State (2-1)
Towson (1-0-2)
Central Florida (1-1-1)
Illnois (0-2-1)
Pool E
Arizona State (3-0)
Neumann (2-1)
Missouri (1-2)
Metro State (0-3)
I cant imagine Long Beach going 0-3, they match up very well against anybody including Lindenwood as you saw last year. As far as the B bracket I think West Chester and UCSB will be battling for that first spot. Your picks for pool C and D i like, but Neumann will be the winner of pool E
Just like last year, the top 8 seeds are split between Pool A and Pool B. The middle 8 between Pool C and Pool D and the bottom 8 between pool E and pool F.
Just because Cal Poly and Long Beach are in Pool A doesn't mean that they were ranked higher than UCSB, the same thing for Eastern and Grand Valley.
Pool A:
Lindenwood 3-0
Cal Poly 2-1
Michigan St 1-2
LBS 0-3
Pool B:
UCSB 3-0
WCU 2-1
Bethal 0-2-1
Ohio St 0-2-1
Pool C:
UNLV 2-1
UMSL 2-1
Stony Brook 1-2
EMU 1-2
Pool D:
GVS 2-1
Towson 2-1
Illinois 1-2
UCF 1-2
Pool E:
Neumann 3-0
Missouri St 2-1
Metro St 0-2-1
Arizona St 0-2-1
Pool F:
UConn 2-1
GMU 1-1-1
UNT 1-1-1
Colorado St 1-2
Looks like the Pools have changed. SBU has dropped out..
Yeah, looks like Hofstra and NC State got in and SBU and GMU dropped out? Anyone know why?
The schedule is posted too! Nothing beyond pool play though and no brackets.
I'm glad those two got in though. It ends the Eastern Michigan debate.

after looking at the pools, it seems like neumann hopped up like 2 pools even over towson, anyone know why that is?
What I do know about the pools is that, for example, pool A is not teams 1-4. Pools A and B are a mix of 1-8, C and D are 9-16, E and F are 17-24. So with SB and GMU out, Neumann is now in the 9-16 range, and probably for ease of scheduling, was just a replacement for SB in that group. They also try to keep regional matchups apart from one another. Like when Hofstra and Stony Brook (45 minutes away on Long Island) played a pool game against each other in San Jose.
Anyone know if there will be some improved video/radio coverage for the event? Got a lot of people back here in MI that want to watch or listen to the game. Can revision/mission kick in some sponsorship for someone like FastHockey to cover the games? I watched a couple of the ACHA games that were free, the coverage was decent.
Oh, and 1145pm game (for us), thats what, 145 am back here, ch'yeah!

I'm curious what happened to Mason. They had a host of excuses last year (one guy said they didn't have enough money, another guy said that too many people were hurt), so I'm interested to hear what their reasoning is this year.
