Its too hard to predict the Final four.. The only safe bet is Lindenwood.
Lindy, WCU, EMU and whoever from the west.
GVS will be no where near the final four

Four forfeits to start the season. Going to nationals.
Seems legit.
All it takes is a big win I guess.

Couldn't get enough players for some reason. That reason hasn't been provided to me by the NCRHA. This from a school that rostered 21 different players during the course of the season between their two teams. And their B team didn't even play that first weekend, which meant that they definitely could have had them play. AND it was their first weekend of the season, so it's not like they had to worry about locking them in or anything.
An act of God, legally, is a "force majeure"- if there was a snowstorm that closed roads, a wildfire, a flood, an earthquake, or a volcanic eruption. Snow is a foreseeable factor when you are traveling in Michigan (it wouldn't be if you were the University of South Florida, for example). It would have to be an abnormal and unforeseeable amount of snow. Not that it matters, it was 44 degrees with .03" of rain that day by them.
someone a little sour grapes? aren't u a hofstra guy...i wonder why such a fuss...
If a team took my spot at nationals who by NCRHA rules shouldnt be there i'd be a bit sour too. However, in the end we can really make that distinction if they should or shouldnt be there, unless we know for sure why EMU forfeited those games. Even so i dont think anything can be done about it sadly.

Well, if you knew my involvement for the past decade, you'd know that I'm the first one to call people out on things, especially those that need to be fixed. Sit and watch how that rule gets rewritten for next year if you don't think there's any influence behind it. But as it stands, the rules are the rules. I don't think they should be there because they had a grand total of four regular season wins, honestly. But the fact that they forfeited an entire weekend? Why do we even bother creating 20+ page documents if we're just going to ignore them when it comes time to apply the rule?
My days with the league have long since passed...but this was always a sore spot with me as well. The rules are the rules. When you start to pick and choose which rules are going to be enforced ... a la carte style ... you set a destructive precedent. Whether or not there was a good reason for the forfeits I don't know. Like I said, I'm not involved anymore. But it would save a lot of hard feelings across the league if "waivers" of the rule were issued publicly so there would be zero doubt.
I'm not trying to stir the pot...just giving advice. I've been involved with this sport at just about every level and "bending the rules" always seems to have caused more problems than it was worth. If "we" create rules and don't consistently obey them, teams will never know when you are serious. Then you end up with teams at nationals with "non-matching jerseys" because the collars aren't 100% matching and they aren't allowed to play, meanwhile a team gets into nationals after 4 unexplained forfeits...or some other issue like that. Individually these situations may have been justified, but for an outsider it just looks like politics.
Big picture...people want our sport taken more seriously. I suggest we all head down that road.
