Rule about girls playing down
Can anyone tell me what the rule is for Girls playing down in tournaments. Can they play one year down or one level down ? Can I find this rule printed anywhere online ?

Re: Rule about girls playing down
any specific tournament/rule set or sanctioning body?
(not crazy on people playing down a division - would we make an allowance for a weedy guy who plays like a girl?)

USA Hockey has rules online at: http://www.usahockey.com/Template_Us...V=RE_03&ID=788
It would not let me copy the text but it states girls can play down one year.

Re: Rule about girls playing down
wow...I was on the panel that got rid of the play-down allowances for girls in the USAHIL rule book back in 2005..I guess they put it back in.
Still not in favor of it, although the girls I coached did use the allowance on more than one occassion. We have always found that, if given the same opportunities, girls don't need any artifical crutches to compete favorably. While size/strength can be factors in the ice game, this is not necessarily the case in the wheel game.
answer to the question, however, each tournament or competition activity publishes any such allowance as part of their registration package. The lack of such mention would mean no such allowance(s) are given. I confess to never having held a NARCh nor AAU rule "book." rather, I have seen printed material, all of which is usually on-line nowadays.
might also note that we routinely had our girls play up as well as down, whenever permitted. One USAHIL regional in Ft. Collins, two of our girls played 8 full games in a single day, and one other girl played 9. They were phenomenal, and these girls have since played at the national level in several competitions.

Re: Rule about girls playing down
NARCh is 1 year, I believe AAU is two years. Can't speak for TORHS.

TORHS has their rules posted on the website. This rule is on the bottom of page 4, top of page 5.
