Long before the Elizbethtown Bears High School Ice Hockey team were recognized as champions and hoisted the CPIHL Viola Cup, they were a group of seven- and eight-year-olds doing their own thing on a downtown roller hockey rink.

"It feels good, a lot of hard work," said Dave Dolan. "The work really began back when these kids were in kindergarten doing roller hockey leagues.

"I ran a roller hockey league trying to get kids involved to play and sometimes 50-60 kids would be at the roller hockey rink. And out of all of those kids, the majority of them came through our program and played on our hockey team."
