National High School Inline Hockey Association (NHSIHA)

Nearly 10 years old and still thought provoking; at least to some. What If? What Happened? Why not?

While the link to this original post appears to no longer be active, I resurrected it from an archive and share for your information, discussion or amusement.

Can we PLEASE organize a national tournament for this year? I really want to play a HS Nationals before I graduate. Let me know what you need me to do. I know I can do it.

    Kevin,
It's been a true pleasure to share posts, emails and even time on an internet radio interview together during your high school years. You, young man, have my respect!

Last year, you expressed well your disappointment over the cancellation of the AAU Nationals in May and it echoes still in the annals of high school roller hockey. While I do not presume myself to have the authoritative answer, but from all information available to me, I regret to say that you and others like you will once more finish a season with no championship outside that of your own organization or state.

Even though efforts to produce a 2011 High School Nationals began in the early fall of 2010, those efforts fell far short of expectations and resulted in what I can only describe as a disappointment to a devoted few. I can not speak for others or for their priorities with respect to our sport other than to say that more eyes are seemingly focused to the top of the pyramid than to the foundation and building blocks that create it - a sad case for the high school segment in this observer's opinion.

Kevin, after your HS graduation you'll be heading off to play more hockey and likely even for a WCRHL team. With the collegiate level, you'll appreciate the organization, the experiences of camaraderie and the journey to a true national championship. I'm guessing that you'll also empathize with the struggles of the high school leagues across the country who are filled with student-athletes with goals like your own and who stay in the game because playing with classmates for the school colors and mascot is an important part of the roller hockey experience growing up.

Wishing you nothing but the very best in all you do!
