Anyone? We (ECU) aren't real thrilled with playing an ECRHA opponent twice (Binghamton). Could we get at least one semi-easy game? please?

With the way you guys preformed against Slippery Rock, Temple and Pittsburgh I can't see you going less than 2-1 this weekend. Shippensburg originally was a force to be reckoned with but after coming out of the winter break they seem like an entirely different team riding a 1-6 record since then. Binghamton has mostly been feasting on the teams in the weaker conference this season save for a few wins versus Millersville, Cornell and ourselves. It depends what type of game they bring with them.
It sucks we got scheduled to have our Glastonbury event the same day as the Chantilly event, it would have given us a real chance to see where our region stands against SECRHL.
Good luck to you guys next weekend.

Yup. Its going to be hard to make a case for an at large bid with our records. The league really needs to do a better job balancing out the schedules. The goal should be to showcase your best teams for the NCRHA to see with balanced schedules with a good mix of a couple D1 games as well as D2 games with one or 2 B games thrown in.
That's a bit of a head scratcher. In all honesty, it hardly benefits teams by allowing cross divisional play the way your region does. If a DI team beats a DII team (or a DII team beats a B team) it makes your strength of schedule seem weaker; but if a lower division team wins it does more to make the higher division for the region look weak, which in the end probably ruins a on the cusp team's chances at nationals. Might as well only have DI and B at that point.

I always assumed the Southeast scheduled the way they do because of travel issues. I don't know if the league never asked if they wanted a balanced schedule (and much more travel) or if the teams want it this way so they don't have to travel as much. Am I right in assuming the schedule is unbalanced and unfair (to both the Southeast and every other region) because the want to minimize travel?
While this would seem to make sense when you take a closer look it does not. The vast majority of the depth of the secrhl is in the state of Florida. So naturally the weekends in florida have more challenging games. But even when we traveled to Snellville we played against D1 george mason even though there were plenty of D2 teams to play against. The scheduling just follows no logic and leaves teams in a bad position to make a case for themselves for an at large bid.
I was hoping ECU B would get to play more than 1 Eastern team (Temple). Also expected to play 4 games, not just 3.
im seeing mason go 1-2 this weekend with their win over towson. we lost harrison to mono so that is a big blow to a line that has been able to carve through every ecrha team so far for the most part. so itll be interesting how we recover but itll definitely drop us a game sadly.

It is done for travel purposes. I have spoken with JR about this several times because many teams used to complain about some other teams strength of schedules. The fact of the matter is though is that there are not too many florida teams who want to, or even have the budget to travel to Raleigh or Columbia more than once a year. Therefore with the tournaments being available in Lake Worth and Fort Myers, they will always choose to attend those events and make their schedules tougher. I played for a team in the northern part of the SECRHL and in the southern part. Both were fun experiences, but there is no doubt that the state of Florida has the vast majority of the best teams in the SECRHL. However, with travel and budget restrictions, it is very difficult to present a balanced schedule for each team. The league does the best job it can and they take these issues into consideration. They also avoid putting very bad teams against very good teams too often because they realize this is a club sport and most people are playing on their own buck and for fun. Yes, its competitive, but getting beat 21-1 is never fun, trust me, I've been there.
I agree with pretty much everything you said. Travel restrictions make it very difficult to make balanced schedules. One thing the SECRHL should consider is requiring the northern teams to take a trip down to Florida once a year just like the Florida teams are required to travel to snellville.
