    D1 expectations

Who should make the Final 4 this year for D1? By my count there's 15 new D1 teams. Can any of these new teams go deep at nationals?

In my opinion, Lindenwood looks as stacked as they've ever been. Looks like ASU is returning about the same team. No rosters posted for UMSL or Buffalo though, are they returning most guys or getting better to keep pace? Or any other teams improved enough to make a run?

    Re: D1 expectations

LU is going to win again.

ASU should be strong as well.

Hate to say it, but UMSL's streak of greatness may be drawing to a close (that's what happens when there's no B team to reload the D1 roster)

It will be interesting to see Neumann and Missouri State against the D1 schools. It's going to be a great year.

Long Beach Returns all their top players (Anderson, Yamamoto, Tanaka, Bernad, Huezo, Jones), and they will also see the return of their high scoring forward Ryan Burrows who sat out the second half of last season including Regionals and Nationals. They have also added high level defenseman Skyler Hoar (AIHL HB Elite) and top level goalie Cory Jones. Long Beach won the West Regionals last year beating a great ASU Team and advanced to the "Elite Eight" at Nationals for the second consecutive year. With the addition of these three very high level players to their already very talented roster, this years team will definately be better then last years team and will be looking to go even deeper at Nationals this year.

I wouldnt be suprised if one of the D2-D1 teams from the East makes the final four. But like ben says, LU will win it again

Tampa a LOT of TALENT. But NO CLASS at ALL. Thought you had to have a coach on the bench in D1. They are a TRUE BLACK MARK on the entire SECRHL and the SPORT. No way the University of Tampa should support this team or their behavior.

    Tampa's Team + UCF's Coach = Very Angry Combination

    Re: D1 expectations

..UMSL will be just fine I'll have our roster up here shortly, only a handful of returning players but a load of new, energetic guys which is nice for our sport and the club itself.

I expect a small disparity in the level of competition in D1 this year, I think the overall level of talent is going down but the teams are becoming more and more closer which is key.

The new rules in regards to D1/D2 are going to extremely hurt the league in the long run, basically as the rule stands now D2 is for new/2nd year teams and D1 is for all other teams regardless of skill.

Does that sound right to anyone, even if you dont know college sports or sports in general that's a horrible outline for your "divisions", I think the "D3" division was a great concept but its not being used to its fullest potential.

UMSL for example, we're returning 4 players, 2 of which were around for our D1 championship (2 were "B" team guys 2 years ago) and we are receiving a grand total of $0 from the school. But to ask to move down to D2 would be a joke, I think its better for the team to be playing against the top competition but not when its costing these kids a lot of money, I'm not saying I think we should be in D2 I think we're exactly where we need to be but the rules/regulations are brutal (financially) on these kids.

'Surprise" Team of the year- Missouri State.

P.S. Any Great Plains team looking for a scrimmage, contact me to set something up.

    Re: D1 expectations

we (mason) had one of our top players leave because when we moved up to DI from DII last year our fee basically doubled per person due to all the equipment requirements and the extra tournament we now have to go to. being a DII team before had competition within it also having us, tampa, the top ecrha teams, and not to mention the west teams when we got to nationals. sure those teams can compete in DI and probably should be moved up (loved moving up to DI personally) but the shifting around hurts the ncrha's by applying a huge gap and forcing teams to pay more, versus allowing for themselves to decide whither to move up or not. read what you wrote and gave a silent "amen" after...

Mason is playing at an interregional in Virginia, no? What other trip do you have to make?

    Re: D1 expectations

Buffalo is returning 1 D1 player in Matt McNeil. Also, our goalie Alexx Christie is back.
We had 3 new players and 4 B guys move up to fill out the roster.
We went 3-0 at pre-season against 3 good teams but we will not walk through the ECRHA like last year.

    Re: D1 expectations

I believe he was referring to the fact that D1 SECRHL plays 20 regular season games (5 weekends) vs (4 weekends) in D2 SECRHL. Which means a additional 461 mile one way trip to Snellville, GA (Atlanta) from DC.

    Meade--

Jimmy was telling me about some of the new kids you have in the program, sound like you guys are going to be just fine. We're definitely looking forward to the first weekend.
