Edit for first weekend results
Bored in class and dont want to learn so here we go....
DI
1. Tampa (3-1)
Recovered from a surprising loss to NCST and beat GMU 3-2 in a hard fought game. beat NCST in rematch
2. GMU (3-1)
Two good wins against UCF and Miami and what looks like a sloppy 12-4 win over 0-4 DII bottom feeder WCU. Played well against Tampa and will be battling for the top spot with Tampa all year. These two teams wont see each other again until regionals. only DI team to play two DII teams last weekend.
3. UCF (2-1-1)
Solid 8-1 win against Kennesaw and easy win over MTST combined with a tie against NCST give UCF the third spot. 9-3 loss to GMU makes it look like that their is a gap between UT/GMU and the rest of DI
4. KSU (2-2)
Losing by 7 goals to both UCF and UT put KSU in the 4th spot. Solid win against NCST and easy win over USC.
5. NCST(1-2-1)
Surprising strong start with a tie against UCF and a big win over Tampa but lost the second game to UT and KSU to finish the weekend. NCST is always a very solid team that can steal a win from more talented teams.
Unranked
FAU INCOMPLETE obvious reasons
back in class so here is DII
DII
1) ECU (4-0)
played well this weekend with two strong wins vs Bethel and FGCU and two easy wins over MTST and GT. I didnt watch them at all this weekend but it seems they are a stronger team than last year.
2) FGCU (3-1)
Played well in their innagural weekend. High scoring offense and what looked like some solid goaltending.
3) Bethel (2-2)
Bethel was the big mystery team heading into the season. Stories of a team with full funding from the athletic department proved true as Bethel rolled up in a Coach bus, and the team is pretty strong. Anchored by 3 Canadian imports, bethel has a solid base to build on and a very good goalie. Surprised Miami in game 1, but struggled the rest of the weekend losing to FGCU and ECU. An easy win against GT finished their weekend.
4) Miami (2-2)
People can say that Miami (we) should be higher but we did not play well this weekend. We should have beat Bethel easily and we didnt. Miami as a team is really good. Their goalie (me) sucked. I lost the Bethel game and gave my team no chance to beat GMU. Miami finished with easy wins against MTSU (13-0) and VT (9-1)
5) VT (3-1)
There is a major drop off here. VT played 3 cupcake teams and won easily but were easily beaten by Miami on Sunday morning. VT probably played the easiest opening schedule of any team this weekend which is why they have a 3-1 record. Once FSU, USF, and UF play some games I expect them all to jump VT.
6) Georgia College (2-1-1)
Another team that benefited from an easy schedule. 2 easy wins against WCU and Kennesaw B, and a tie with USC are not very impressive especially when they got beat easily by VT.
7) USC 1-2-1
Only win was against WCU, another team that will drop in rankings once everyone plays some games.
the rest
WCU, GT, MTST, (0-4)
Unranked
USF, FSU, UF, JMU
teams currently unranked because they did not play this weekend. I expect all of them to end up in the rankins above VT once they start playing
Thoughts???
