MLRH to hit 949 Roller hockey center September 25th and to debut Roller hockey TV!!!!
SLAMM Hockey Heads West
California event set for September 25
So you want to play SLAMM Hockey...
If you are an interested player or looking to create a team for an event, there are a few things you need to know.
Game format: Slamm Hockey is played 4 x 4 with alternating lines of men vs. men and women. vs woman. The goalie can be a man or woman and the goalie can play the entire game or you can switch up a man and woman goaltender.
Shifts: So that neither the men nor women can "hog the playing time,"
lines must change up at the first whistle after a minute of playing time has expired on each shift. After 90 seconds of play without a whistle, the referee has the authority to blow the play dead when the puck is in a neutral zone.
Contact: Slamm Hockey is full contact and the women are permitted to check on their shifts just like the men.
Fighting: The MLRH fighting rules apply. Basically, a player is allowed one fight per game. If he is judged to be the instigator in a second fight. he receives a game misconduct. Same rules apply to the women.
The Puck flip: All Slamm Hockey games begin with a "puck flip" and the winner decides if the men or women skate the first shift. The losers get to choose who starts the second half.
Slamm Hockey is headed to California and the next event is scheduled for the 949 Arena in Irvine, CA, September 25th
The event will include several of the established Slamm teams and will be open to any group that wants to form a team. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games. Selected games at the 25th event will also be carried on the new Roller Hockey TV broadband network.
Mission Hockey, Eschelon Sports, Revision and Rink Rat/Faction sports will all be in attendance with either booths or product displays.
