Thread: AIHL Divisions

    AIHL Divisions

It seems that there is going to be some significant changes in the AIHL teams this year. Does anyone know which teams are returning, which teams are combinging, and which teams will not be returning?

Also does anyone have any idea of how the divisions will be set up next season?

looking at the divisions i had an interesting thought and i wanted to get everyones oppinion...

What would happen if, instead of making 3 east coast divisions (new england, atlantic, colonial), we changed it to two larger divisions. (Northeast and Atlantic).

The setup I had in mind would move north jersey teams into the Northeast division and bring the remaining colonial teams into a division with south jersey and PA.

The total travel for the furthest teams would be about 5.5 hours (something that the Colonial divisions already deals with). Larger divisions would also help to promote competition. To me it also makes more sense to use a larger division than to play the same teams 4 or more times a year.

They are striving to make 3 teams I believe; a northern Florida team and two south Florida teams. Have not heard anything regarding the three team goal though in a few weeks (I think there idea was to have the Streethawks as the northern team). It's being headed by a player and coach I think, so it is a lot of work to get this going but they got a ton of people interested down here!

    Brad,

This idea has been discussed, but will heavily depend on what happens west of pittsburgh. If enough teams come together to form a new division in that region it would make this idea very workable. It is just far to early to give even an educated guess.

Thanks for the reply Flynn. The league has a ton of stuff to look at and consider. You all do a fantastic job with evaluating proposed changes and determining the best course of action to take.

Thank you for your continued hard work.
