    Philadelphia Flyers

To all Hockey watchers out there. Now i'm a huge flyers fan and i am pleased with there success throughout the season and playoffs. Just wondering how you all feel? Also Just wonderign if any of you have been watching the play of Jeff Carter. He is a lost cause out there sometimes making bonehead plays in his own defensive zone. Not passing the puck to guys alone in front. Just wondering if he really truly wants it.

They got to the finals by beating a pathetic, no show Devils team, a Bruins team with the killer instinct of a 2 week old kitten and a Canadiens team that had run out of gas from beating talented contending teams their past two series (in seven games each might I add).

You can thank the Rangers for having Jokinen shoot last in the final game of the regular season and the Canadiens for their cinderella run knocking out the real talent for the Flyers appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Now all the Flyers have to do is win 4 games in one tough series and its a Stanley Cup for them. Talk about having the stars align...

Where were you with two weeks to go in the regular season?

I hate the Flyers. If there's a God in heaven, the Blackhawks will win and clinch in Philly.

I've hated them from the Dave Schultz, Bobby Clarke days, and I still hate them.

And, don't get me started about their fans. I was at this years NHL WInter Classic and I'll sit next to a Boston Bruins fan any day of the week instead of a Flyers fan. (that's saying a lot - cause I HATE the Red Sox too) Only good thing about sitting next to a Flyers fan at a hockey game is once they're "bombed" they lose track of how many drinks they have stashed and you can basically drink for free

My wife always tells me - hate's a strong word, but it fits here.

Sorry - had the need to vent. Please don't send a Flyers fan to beat me up.

    Re: Philadelphia Flyers

For the past three weeks, everybody at my house has been walking around muttering, "...stupid Rangers."

I was rootin' for the Canadiens, and everybody else in my household is such a Sidney fan that they even rooted for Canada over USA (!)

You have to hand it to the Flyers, however: Yeah, they haven't played the toughest opponents, in the toughest of circumstances, yeah, the Devils failed to show up at all, yeah the Bruins "collapse," yeah, the Canadiens were "out of gas," yeah, yeah, yeah...

On the other hand, it is a truism that "championship teams find a way to win," usually a dozen different ways to win, over the course of a four-tiered playoff system. The Flyers have certainly been doing that.

Fact is, under the circumstances, both the B'hawks and the Flyers deserve to be where they are, and congratulations to all of 'em.

Yes, I am a Flyers fan, probably the onlyone that doesnt drink

They certainly did have an interesting regular season, but considering the coaching change, and the change to a different system, I dont know that its so terribly unbelievably that things would start coming together after a few months which happened to be around playoff time. Also, like em or hate em, the Flyers franchise is exactly the kind of franchise that keeps the NHL strong. Devoted fan base in a good hockey town, strong long term leadership that is committed to doing what it needs to to be successful. They are also very loyal to alot of their integral parts- they have a lot of long term relationships with players, coaches, staff.

I love to see the Blackhawks in the running! Great to see one of the original six which has struggled, back on top. With all the young whippersnappers, I think they'll be around a while. It was soooo cool the other night to see all the old Blackhawk players at the game on tv- Makita, Esposito et all.

There has been such good hockey, so much fun to watch!

For those of you who know me, I love the Flyers and have been on board all season long. These playoffs have been exhausting for me. Thankfully I have been able to attend two games Game 5 vs NJ and Game 4 vs BOS. I had tickets to Game 7 against MON but didn't need them.

I started growing a playoff beard before the end of the regular season, because honestly it has been the playoffs for the Flyers for quite some time and it was easier than packing a razor and stuff for NCRHA nationals.

The beard has come a long way, this was taken during the ECF against Montreal:

Honestly i really do know get why they Benched Riemer for Carcillo or even for Carter. I would even consider dressing Nodl.

Flyers fans are very passionate fans. Yea they might get a bad rep but they are into there team and city of philadelphia.

Bottom line is no one wants to see philly do good in anything. Since philly is in the Finals everyone hates it. Just suck it up for a summer guys hahahha.

That's a little extreme no? At least Carter draws the attention of the defenseman out there... And right now, I'd love to see JVR back in for Carcillo... at home, riled up from being benched... could be a big spark..

Bill, that beard is rediculous... looks like all your hockey talent was born in your face haha

Come on, man. They Flyers have beaten every team put in front of them. They can't change who they had to play. To win in the Stanley Cup playoffs you need 3 lines that can score, good top 4 defensemen, and great goaltending. They Flyers are the only team in the East that had that consistently throughout the playoffs. Lets look at all the teams.
    1. Washington Capitals - 2 good lines, suspect defense, and suspect goaltending.
    2. New Jersey Devils - 2 good lines, ok defense, world class goaltender, still got a terrible first round matchup. I say if the Devils would have played any other team, they would have advanced, but they Flyers have owned them this year.
    3. Buffalo Sabres (great goaltending thats about it)
    4. Pittsburgh Penguins - 2 good lines, one good defensemen (IMO), good goaltending (but below average this year in the playoffs).
    5. Ottawa Senators - can't really say I've watched them enough to comment on them.
    6. Boston Bruins - not enough offense (struggled all season to score goals), decent defense, great goaltending. This was one of the few teams I feared playing as a Flyers fan, but we were able to survive.
    7. Philadelphia Flyers - 3 solid scoring lines, great top 4 defensemen, above average goaltending.
    8. Montreal Canadiens - 1 good scoring line, ok defensemen, stellar goaltending.

It may have taken the entire season for the Flyers to gel into the team that the Hockey News and many other analysts picked to win the Stanley Cup, but they are playing great right now and deserve to be in the Finals.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Flyers are basically the same team (IMO), and this series has been one of the best I can remember. Three one goal games so far and every inch of the ice being fought for on every shift.

BTW... Carter does look lost, but he's a 40 goal scorer. You gotta keep playing him bc at any given moment he'll get his timing and feel for the game back. He looked a little better in game 3.

    GO FLYERS!
