    Admission Fee for 2010 Nationals

Does anybody know if there will be admission this year to watch the games. If so do they know how much?

A remember this last year. As if paying for travel, rental cars, and hotels isn't enough for parents and relatives that come out to watch, they have this dumb fee. Last year I think it was 20 or 25.

I thought it was a terrible fee, but supposedly the NCRHA needs to charge those fees so they do not lose money from nationals, due to the fact that the NCRHA is non profit. Which gives them justice for charging in my opinion.

55 teams pay a 795 fee and if they decided to book hotels on their own and not through the league it was 995. Obviously I don't know all the costs for the league, like rink time, and paying for refs, ect. but im just confused how the league can be losing money when that many teams are paying the fee. I completely agree that paying to watch college roller hockey is stupid, especially when most likely 90% of the people watching at nationals are family.

Agreed, each team is already paying $800-$1000. Up the fee a couple bucks per team and let people watch for free. Like others have said, the only people that will pay are family members who have already paid enough. Plus, do you expect a bunch of high school kids or youth players from the area to come watch if there is a fee? I don't...cut the fee and gain some fan base so maybe these kids will want to join the league and help it grow one day.

Is curious to know more and your opinions...

"WHAT IF" the HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS played in this same NCRHA Nationals venue?

Good or Bad? Better for the sport or a distraction? More fans in the stands? Enhanced recruiting to the College ranks? Lower event fees overall? Charge fees for admission?

    Just a thought, eh?

A couple points. 1) "non-profit" only means the corporation does not profit, not necessarily the people. Let me be clear I don't think anyone in the NCRHA is getting a huge salary and they are probably underpaid, but don't let the notion that Non-profit means no profit. Joel Osteen is a t.v. evangalist with a non-profit from which he annually draws 9 figure salaries. Most hospitals purport to be non-profit and then pay their board of directors several hundred thousand dollars a year for showing up to a weekly meeting. 2) The facility, utilities, staff, etc. is more than most people comprehend. Ultimately, it is mostly family and in reality the fees are necessary and are coming out of the same pockets. If someone wants to go the prices are not so high that they are prohibitive.

I don't think local teens or college students in the area would bother even if it was as low as 5 bucks. Why would they? They don't know many if any of the players. I do like the idea of incorporating local high school leagues. It's not a distraction to college players because there are games all weekend and if anything, it will get local players interested or turned on to the college game.
