Why were the ECRHA Interregional Event games changed to exhibitions?

just wondering about this...i understand they dont count for ecrha regional seeding but theyve counted as regular season games in the past and the other interregional events from this year count as regular season games..

teams out east didnt travel so far to play exhibitions.

Only a guess - because since the inter-regional games don't count in the Divisional Standings, this way you get a clearer picture of the status of who has what seed leading up to Regionals.

    Again, only a guess.

ECRHA ranks their teams for nationals based on points (after the auto-bid regional winner obviously). 2 points for a win in regular season, 1 point for a tie. 3 points for a regional win, 1 point for a regional tie. If these exhibition games counted as regular season games, it would give Bport, Rowan, Shipp, and Neumann an opportunity to gain more points and get ahead of other teams who didn't play in any inter-regional event.

NCRHA BOD voted that the games had to be changed to exh. I am not sure what was said, but I am sure if you requested a copy of the meeting minutes you could figure out why they were changed.

That's exactly why - makes figuring out seeding for regionals much less confusing.

They will not be considered as 'exhibition' in the true sense of the word (like ECRHA preseason games) when it comes to nationals bids, etc.
