Is our sport really getting that bad that the front page headliner is a picture of a renovated Jiffy Lube?

are you kidding? somebody has invested time and money in putting in a facility in their area for people to play hockey- i'd be alot more concerned about what goes on inside than what it looks like it used to be on the outside(which appears clean and maintained). not everyone has a sportsplex at there disposal, nor can every community support one. kudos to anyone who works with the resources at their disposal, and risks their own money, to build a business that supports roller hockey.

I'm going to assume that he really was kidding...I find it more interesting that his sub-head on the signage relates to indoor cricket.

At Xtreet sports we had indoor versions of basketball, baseball, cricket, australian football, korfball, inline hockey, soccer (two versions), lacrosse, kickball, dodgeball, flag football, ultimate frisbee, team handball, and several even more obscure team games.

I really want to hand it to every facility operator out there who is doing whatever it takes to survive. Attaboy, and Keep it up!

I regret to report that my program, and my personal dream, went out of business this past week. We were behind on the building rent, and the landlord foreclosed on us last Sunday. A multitude of factors hindered cash flow, none of which were helped by the economy.

Xtreet Sports is no more. If any facility operator out there would like to take any help from a guy who lost his business after three years of operation, I would be glad to share about what my experience was regarding what worked, what didn't, and what might for somebody else. Free of charge.

I am now redirecting all my hockey players to the public facility in town, hoping that my volunteer help will enable us to build the sport back up locally.

Good luck to everybody out there who is trying to make our sport go forward. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

that is upsetting to hear DannyG. unfortunately this is going to keep happening for a while yet, so everyone hold on to the arenas you have for as long as you can.

The rink in Morristown was started in 1995 (I believe). It was originally Instant Replay and I was one is its owners from 2003-2008. Yes it is not the nicest rink but there are a lot of dedicated customers that has given its owners the support for the past 14 years. I should and could have closed the doors many times, but kept it open, so another rink did not close down.

So do not knock the little and non state of the art rink. It used to be the Town Hall for Morristown and was never a Jiffy Lube. The building does have a two store garage and that is one on the entrances you see in the picture. The main entrance is nice but that has been occupied by Indoor Cricket USA since 2007. I brought them in as my tenant so it could help with my $20,000 a month rent, at that time, not including other monthly bills. Nothing included, only the building, and trust me never worth that much. I am sure no other rink had or has that high of a rent.

Danny G I am sorry to hear that, trust me I know how you feel. Tough business to run and no one out there really knows how hard it really is, unless you own a sports facility. Keep your head up and best of luck on the next stage in your life.

We did down at Extremes! in Bridgewater, NJ and after you add in payroll and utilities (especially a/c in the summer) we were looking at 35k a month.

Yes Troho your correct. We were thinking of buying Extremes at that time and it was the same in rent. Sorry I left that out. And yes with everything included it came up to $35 to 50K a month, depending on which time of year. Now I am sure not many other rinks had that much in overhead each month like Instant Replay and Extremes. At least extremes was big and allowed to do other sports, as you know we were very limited in Morristown. Do not know how the landlord was, but it was not pleasant for me in Morristown.

1996 @ Instant Replay, an 8 year old boy finds his passion that continues now with Towson in the NCRHA and NARCH with the ISCA Grizzlies. Who would have thunk it?

Some very fond memories that will be treasured forever. Sorry to see it go. Call it what you will, but it will always be remembered as "INSTANT REPLAY".
