Yes its allowed. You need to speak with your team owner, the owner of the team you want to transfer to and the conference commissioner.

We just did one this week.

Yes it is allowed, but alot of things have to happen. I played for the nightmare last season after playing for the growl for 4 years. I started with the nightmare this season but a few weeks before the first game decided I did not want to play for them. I have my reasons and do not need to get into that.

But I approached the Brawlers to see if they had a spot open for me and once I found out that they did, I approached my owner for my release.

So it is possible but my owner for the Nightmare was nice enough to give me my release even though he did not have to at all. He could have easily kept me from playing hockey the whole season. I respect him 100% for doing it, and Mr Redstreake couldnt thank him enough because I know that it had to be hard to give me my release to play for another team in our division.

But its all over and done with. The season is underway and everything is looking ahead.

Good luck to all this season

you may switch teams if the team you are on agrees to a release and contacts the league office with it.

Doesn't the AIHL have provisions to prevent a team from being unfair to a player and preventing them from transferring?

Here, and in ice hockey here as well - releases can only be denied to a player if they are unfinancial i.e. they owe money to the club they're leaving. There is a time provision for the club to respond as well - I think it is a week. i.e. I notify league and club that I need a clearance to leave, if they don't respond one way or the other within a week I'm free to go wherever.
