    PIHA vs. AIHL

Why was AIHL started to compete with PIHA? Isnt that counterproductive for roller hockey? What actually are the differences between the two? Wouldnt it be better to just have one league and everyone and all resources committed to making it the best it can be?

There were a number of disagreements between team owners and the founder of the league. These two groups had different visions as to the future of the league. Unfortunatly, with the set up of PIHA team owners had no say in where resources were allocated because of this they decided to venture out and create the AIHL. What seperates these two leagues is that owners now have a vote and can impact the future of the league.

The inagural season of the AIHL may have been the most enjoyable season of hockey I have ever played. The jamboree weekends were alot of fun because it brought a large number of teams together. I do not know how the PIHA season went but it seems like a few more teams are making the switch over this season so I would assume it did not live up to expectations.

The aihl is doing the best so far. Most teams have left the piha for the aihl. I also think that the aihl is cool in my mind because the piha has basically done away with any hitting. Whereas the aihl still allows it in front of the goal and along the boards. Even open rink contact is allowed just as long as the boast somewhat of an effort to play the puck. I was watching one of their games the ga syndicate to be excact and I still saw all the finesse and some big hits and exciting physical play.

There really isn't much hitting in the AIHL... body play and hitting are two different things

In well I guess that's kind of what I meant. It's kind of common sense that the aihl is a non checking league.

there's a fair amount of hitting in the aihl. obviously not like ice hockey but still far from a non hitting league, at least from what i saw last seaoson.

The mlrh has some horrible hits. Maybe now that theres a pro noncontact league debuting in November for the mlrh it won't be as hardcore. I personally though like the full contact though.
