    Alumni Events

Do any of the clubs out there host alumni events? Wondering how clubs are handling their alumni and keep them involved.

I am working on getting in touch via facebook or email with all the past Penn State players. There's talk of possibly hosting a mini-tourney and golf weekend somewhere in PA in 2010.

    Thanks.

Hey Huck, hope everything is going well out there!!!

I know that UC Santa Barbara hosts an alumni vs current team game and BBQ weekend.

On top of that the WCRHL holds 2 Alumni Games per season, one in Northern CA and one in Southern CA. It is open to all college roller hockey alumni, not just alumni of WCRHL teams. The next game will be October 17th 2009 in San Jose, CA and another will be held in Southern CA in Jan/Feb 2010. For more info, send an email to [email protected].

We have a part of our website that alumni can request an account and they get listed as a past player and their contact info and stuff. Most of the alumni that know me still get together to play a few times a year but nothing official. Too many people come here for school and then move far away (PSU).

We had an alumni game this year that we played the afternoon of our end of season banquet and awards dinner. A good amount of guys showed up for the game, and most were able to come to the dinner that night. We have historically been a Long Island based team, so it's not too hard to get the guys together, but they have been really supportive.

We've had an alumni game & BBQ for t he last 3-4 years. Seems to go over well. As we have no league games closer than 400 miles from campus, this is the one opportunity that the student body has to watch us play. Also i use this as the venue for handiung out awards and recogniozing our seniors. Usually get 100-150 spectators + a good turn-out of veterans. I believe it is a good experience for everyone and well worth the time and money expended on doing it right.
