    NARCh - Bronze Medal Game

As I recall, in 2007 NARCh implemented the Bronze Medal Game at NARCh Finals. In prior years, the Bronze Medal was awarded to the Highest Seeded team to lose in the Semi-Finals. The Bronze Medal Game was also utilized at the 2008 NARCh Finals in San Jose.

After taking a close look at the 2009 NARCh Finals schedule, it appears that the Bronze Medal Game has been eliminated.

I know that there were a lot of opinions, both for and against, for having a Bronze Medal Game, and I realize that TORHS doesn't do it either.

I have no idea what the consensus of opinion was, but has NARCh responded to a majority opinion that they revert back to the way that the Bronze Medal was awarded? If so, more power to NARCh for giving the consumer what they want.

Me? I liked the Bronze Medal Game. However, I may be in the minority on this one. Anyway, both ways work for me.

ps - I think the AAU Copper Medal is just plain dumb.

I have mixed feelings on the Bronze medal game. For older players, 14 or 16u, after they lose in the semi finals, they just want to leave. For the younger players, I think they would enjoy it a lot. Also, it would be nice to see it in the lowest level divisions (cub and silver). Those players are there to have fun and such, and I am sure they'd enjoy playing another game, and fighting for a medal!

Just like everything else, Im sure Daryn looked into how it impacted everyone and asked around and took a poll to see and then made an educated choice...

Honestly, from my perspective...and I second Mr Inge on saying its kind of dumb at the 14u or 16u and up...Ive seen too many people get to emotional and go crazy and get thrown out of those type games for nothing....Its also a schedule burner - why schedule a meaningless if you could save money along with the man power hours of a long event!

Id say keep it at the extreme lower levels and maybe keep those COPPER medals for some of the lower levels as well....but if you have a platinum division, no and if its 14u or higher, no way - ive seen more harm then good
