    Wheelchair Inline Hockey

    Can you help?

I am working with the Give Blood Play Hockey Inline Hockey Charity Tournament organizing committee (www.givebloodplayhockey.org/) on bringing in an exhibition of Wheelchair Inline Hockey to the event this year (Oct. 9-11 @ The 949 in Irvine, CA) and seeking How To and Who references to add to the charitable causes of this annual event.

Thanks in advance for all you might share to help us help others.

    Best!

    Re: Wheelchair Inline Hockey

Oboy, there are several anwers to this question.

Check out U-tube footage, I think george's cell phone recordings of us in El Paso are still there.

If you have participation (we are committed to play in Las Vegas that weekend), and are seekng how to play, then here is our format.

    1. Regulation equipment...skate boots, leg guards, gloves, elbows, helmet/mask.

    2. regular rules, except that a still puck underneath a goalie is considered covered, as the goalie cannot "drop" to cover a puck.

    3. play crosswise, not full floor, wheelchairs can only go 6-7 mph.

    4. play 3v3, plus keepers...we play 3v3 with trash-can goals, which is how we play able-bodied anyway.

    5. Get a bunch of wheelchair basketball players who might like to try something new...once you have your 3-5 actual wheellchair athletes, then have them challenge any able-bodied team to sit in the chairs against them.

Hope any of this makes sense. Glad to talk to you personally at 915-252-1678 anytime.

    -Dan
