    Live AIHL playoff action

Just wanted to give a shoutout to those who were at the Eastern Conference Finals this past weekend and to those who watched on the internet and chatted in the chat room while we were live on Stickam.com . ( my favorite part was when people in the chatroom were giving us the correct name pronunciations. That really helped.)

Every game was live on the web cam and most were recorded and can be viewed at www.stickam.com/ratcast (click on the videos tab)

After about 5 hours of play by play my voice started to hurt and eventually gave out, but we kept the video rolling.

I was personally hoping to see 100 viewers. But after AAU put us up on their web page and www.stickam.com put us up as the main featured video on their front page, well...you all were playing live in front of more than 1200 people on Saturday.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. I'd love your feedback too.

yes I heard that you had us up on IHC too Richard. I didn't get to see it personally as I was behind the mic all day, but people were telling me we were live on your main page.

    Nice job. Thanks.

Damn, if I knew there was 1200 people watching I would have hit more people. Just Kidding! Congrats to Steel City and a great job on the commentary of the games. Somethign that came to mind while watching and listening to the games online was the lack of "team facts". Maybe before the game if you got a little information from each team to help beef up some of the down time between whistles or between periods. When I got home I thought about it.

You guys did a great job myself and Matt Beam watched the recorded games after we got home saturday night and were very impressed. There are two things I would really like to see next year if possible.
The first would be a camera at each end of the rink because it was nearly impossible to see the action at the far end.
I would also really like to see some post or pre game interviews. You could ask a player or coach a few questions and get people from the chat room to also add some input. This would increase the fan interaction and also increase the info on the teams that jon mentioned in his post.

I just wanted to thank you guys again for everything that you put into this. You are really helping to build the sport in a very innovative way. Hopefully in the future more sponsors will get involved and you guys can make the show even better.

Im working on a season highlight video for the Maryland Crusaders... would you guys mind if I added some of your commentary to the video?

    Hey Jon,

You have made some great observations. Being the "color commentary guy", it is my job to throw some of that stuff in there throughout the broadcasts. However, this weekend was tough to prepare for as I had to pull double duty with my team still playing while still providing the commentary for the games. I will be sure to have my homework done for the finals.

I know personally it was awesome to be apart of the broadcast this weekend and I am really looking forward to the finals. I will work with rup and dave to get some additional info on teams and perhaps some pregame stuff before the finals.

    Hi Greg,

Thanks for the kind words. Dave and I really enjoy what we have been able to do with the broadcasts.

We are currently looking into a better camera for the finals. We are in hopes that we could end up with something wireless that could be used at center court. Worst case scenario is that we might replace our current webcam with a better one for now. Interviews are something that we have considered and I can assure you will be a part of some future broadcasts...just maybe not in the immediate future until we can increse the number of people who can help produce such a broadcast. Dave and I have to do everything from bringing in all of the equipment to being the "on air talent". It's really quite an involved process.

We now have a year under our belts, so we will be approaching some prospective sponsors during the offseason with some hopes that we can upgrade some of our equipment.

We would be honored if you guys were to use some of our footage in your video. Anything to help the teams take their presentation and involvement to the next level.

I was on all week end and had a blast watching some great hockey in the East. It is really nice to be able to be involved in what is going on around the league outside of our own divisions.

I look forward to being a part of taking this technology to another level. It was awesome to see over 1200 people watching the action. You don't want to miss the Finals as there are some very talented teams involved.

Dave, Ruppy, Flynner and all the teams involved a job well done.

As much as it chaps my AZZ to give props to Dave or Ruppy for ANYTHING I'd have to say it was a job very well done as usual..I don't know if anybody else used the stickam mobile but i was watching the first 4 games on my phone the video was streamed nicely but the chat was a little slow ....Still a huge step forward in promoting the sport

Thank you Dave, Flynner and Ruppy

Jim you must be a techo-goon.

Yeah stickam has a mobile feature for some phones where you can download there app to a java phone and watch live from your phone. I here it works pretty well.

visit stickam.com and look for the mobile tab for more info.

    thanks for the compliments.

    Re: Live AIHL playoff action

I personally think the whole weekend was made better by the MANY who stayed with us all weekend. It makes it every easier to deliver what everyone wants to hear when they are able to communicate it. AAU President Keith Noll absolutely loved it and told me yesterday that he is willing to do whatever it takes to make it even better for the Finals and next year.
