For this summer, we are pleased to announce two tournaments, one in July (11th- 25th) and one in August (1st-15th). These tournaments will be used to raise funds for improvements to our rink at 96th Street and First Avenue on the Upper East Side, to introduce a few new players to the Manhattan Roller Hockey League and to have some good hockey in the summer. Both tournaments will run for three weeks with each team guaranteed three games. All four games will be played on Saturday with the first rain date being the subsequent Sunday. If need be, games can also take place at 7pm during the week. Unlike the regular season, the MRHL Champions Cup will not be awarded but a $100 gift certificate towards a bar tab goes to the winners (a nice way to celebrate playing hockey in the summer).

These tournaments will not be sponsored or run by the MRHL but coordinated by MRHL faithful (Roxanne Gaudiel of the Brother Jimmy's BBQ team, AXA Advisors Co-Captain Ross Ginsberg, and Jay Yoon who helped run the roller hockey program at Penn State) . As such, USA Inline hockey membership is not needed. This also means that you will play at your own risk as there will not be insurance coverage. An injury/liability waiver similar to the regular MRHL waiver must be signed by every player. The usual MRHL staff will not be prepping the rink so players from the first game each day will need to pitch in putting out the goals and sweeping and clearing the rink of debris. Also, there will not be formal refs but rather volunteers. So please, do not use this as an opportunity for rougher and more physical play as fighting and other unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated (don't be that guy). Any such infractions will result in appropriate penalties and possible expulsion.

The cost of each tournament is $150 per team. This is due on the first week of play prior to the start of your first game and given to Ross Ginsberg. No team will be allowed to play unless the whole fee is paid. The schedule will be released on HockeyBarn.com where teams can manage their rosters. Teams are required to bring both a light and dark colored jersey (please use the same color). Jerseys do not have to match.

To register, please send the contact information for your captain, a list of 10 confirmed players and your goalie. The rest of your roster must be finalized by the beginning of the tournament with a maximum of 15 players (goalies not included). The registration deadline is June 19th. Teams making the Tournament will be announced before July. Please send your registration information to: [email protected]
