Thanks for posting the link Richard. There were some inconsistencies in the story, but hey, in our sport, any kind of publicity is good publicity. We are trying to get the paper to include things like standings, stats, and schedules as part of their daily sports section.

    Hi Ruppy,

Yep, that photo of Michael Hunt was a bit "inconsistent" too, wasn't it?

Ruppy, great job getting the press involved in what you guys are doing. You guys have a great organization that is setting the bar quite high for all of us.

This is what this sport needs to thrive.

    Keep up the great work.

    Re: Cool Swamp Rats Story

Thanks for the kind words guys.

The great thing about a team playing at this level is some of the unique stuff that you can do if you have the right people willing to get involved. I have witnessed teams having entrance videos, you tube videos, merchandise and apparel, customized music at games, chuck-a-pucks, audience participation contests, audio and video game broadcasts, team mascots, you name it and it has been done somewhere or another.

Just in the past few weeks alone there has been coverage right here on IHC regarding teams doing different theme nights for charity. The possibilities are endless. I personally would love to see what people around the various leagues at this level could come up with if there was a reasonable budget in place for people's imaginations to really get inventive.

All of the multimedia related to the Rats and Donkeys is a result of Dave Gardner's willingness to think outside the box and see things through on any ideas that he may have. Almost everytime I go to his house to do the radio show, there is a new piece of equipment or some new software to enhance the final product.

Teams should really try to reach out to Dave as he can get any of you started in the right direction if you ever decide to try any of the things that we are doing in Boston. Although the things that we do are time consuming and requires some trial and error, when you get it to where you want it, the result is very satisfying.

ninedeuce, I agree...it sucks that he used the word ball, but I have to give the author a lot of credit. The majority of the content in that story came from him doing some research and not just quoting me on all of the questions that he threw at me. As a matter of fact, there was a lot of the interview that never made it to print. This guy was very passionate about the story and genuinely interested in what it is that we are doing.
