    Eligibility

Is it true that the league is talking about raising the limit to 6 years? I have heard this mentioned before but just wondering what is going on with this. Any new info?

The NCRHA Board of Directors are always open to considering alternatives and discussing them. I will tell you that at this time, there has been no mention of increasing the eligibility to 6 years.

I insist the league increase eligibility to 6 years. As a never-was goalie, I want two years to prove I never had what it took

    Re: Eligibility

If you are still in school full time (or grad school) I don't see the problem with that. No one is going to take a full load of classes AND stay academically eligible just to play college inline. If they just want to play that bad they would play PIHA or AIHL.

The league is hurting due to a lack of experience (teams, not BOD's)because the players just start to learn how to run their programs and then they graduate. If a few players were around with 5-6 years experience who could offer advice, how would this be a bad thing? "Hey, we tried that 5 years ago and it didn't work" or "When we did this it really helped"

And seriously, how many people in the nation would this potentially affect? If you take longer than 5 years to graduate you have problems anyway...and if you stick around and go to grad school, there is a good chance your priorities are going to shift away from hockey and onto school. So what would be the harm?

People play for 5 years!? Who does that

Seriously though this last post is right on, I've been around for (ever) awhile now and it's a much easier transition year to year because I ran things a long time ago and guys can bounce the exact kinds of questions off of me that you put forth. I think maybe this is something that can be done via websites / wikis and what not about what needs to be done to get a program going (which the NCRHA did a few years back I believe) but it's also about player responsibility. A lot of guys just show up and play (no offense to anyone) but there is a level of management and attention to paperwork required to make the train go as it were. Experience gets you through that smoother but I don't know that raising elligability limits will encourage that much.

Trick you're older, more responsible guys into staying around to coach is what I'd recommend

    Re: Eligibility

    To the Powers That Be,

I hope to get back into skating shape by this fall, after I recover from an injury from last November. A big fat Armenian (I'm not a bigot, I'm just stating facts) fell on my outstretched right leg, hyperextending and tearing a ligament in my knee.

I received my B.A. in English from San Diego State (Aztecs! Aztecs!) many moons ago, but I could still conceivably go to grad school. If I take enough non-detectable steroids and am better than the worst player on the team, how many more years of eligibility can I get?
    Sincerely,
