Thumbs up Bobby Ryan in Sports Illustrated

Found this article in the Post-Super Bowl edition of Sports Illustrated (The last issue before the Swimsuit Edition came out.)

Really interesting article, a lot of stuff that I didn't know about him, but then again, I'm only 16.

Check it out and post any comments if you have any.

Bobby was always a threat growing up. I remember when he was playing for the 99ers back in his early days. You knew he was going to make it some where. He was a first year Mite playing up in the Squirt division. Todd Melton wouldn´t even let him on the bench for water. I remember seeing him in AIRHS 1997 and Todd threw him back on the rink (In a Squirt game). Pretty funny! He was a man child. Bobby is a great kid and wonderful role model. He is a strong kid who went through a lot of crap growing up. He is one kid that you can truley say, ¨Yeah pure Roller Hockey player!¨

    Congrats Bobby!

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for posting this. At least they threw one line in there about Bobby Ryan being a roller hockey player... Seems to me they could have given the sport a bit more credit in the article.

Exactly what I was thinking....he got into the NHL because his skills from inline, but didn't play right away cuz he he didnt have the conditioning that ice puts you thru.

That's typical of SI, they are just not into Hockey. Even when an NHL team wins the Stanley Cup they don't always make the cover.

There is a better article from ESPN the Magazine from December. If you go to the ESPN web site and search "Bobby Ryan Alias" it will be the first story listed.

    Hi terrorcoach,

You're right, a much-better article. Thanks for sharing it. Perhaps that's why ESPN magazine is on the way up and Sports Illustrated is on the way down.
