Ohio State I do not believe offers any roller hockey scholarship- most schools do not. However, USA Hockey- InLine along with many high school leagues do.
Women are more than welcome to play, but if course, a female must make a team the same way any male player would.
what other way than the way anyone else makes it would there be to make it?
Sorry, we unfortunately don't offer any roller scholarships. As GoRangr said this the norm currently in college roller hockey. Hopefully one day it will change but for now it is still just a "club" sport.
Male or female though we are always looking for good players to join the team!![]()

Thanks I just wanted to know, and I know how try outs work. I've played with guys, just wanted to know if it's the same for college hockey.
I know Shippensburg had a girl on their team a few years ago. I know Lindenwood's B teams have a girl who plays in goal. She played one of the B teams last year and the other this year.
K-State has two Dicks on their team.

well as long as girls can play... I don't care if I was to be cut.
FYI - For the first time in 4-5 years, K-State does not have any women on the team. No women showed up for tryouts and our last experienced women graduated last year.
The best way to be able to fund roller hockey scholarships is to form a 501c3 organization (tax exempt non-profit org) and solicit donations to be used to pay players' tuition. AKA a booster club... take s a few months to organize and since not very many teams get enough help from their schools, this is the best way to go.
From the NCRHA LOM....
E. Financial Aid
i. The spirit of this rule is to prevent the use of financial compensation without academic or legitimate financial merit as a recruitment tool. Specifically, this rule is NOT designed to prohibit scholarship awards given by high school leagues and industry vendors.
Exceptions to this rule will be granted on a case-by-case basis by the Director of League Operations.
ii. Student-athletes may receive only financial aid which has been properly channeled through the college/university financial aid office or other college/university office. Financial aid shall be awarded on a need basis only as determined by the United States Department of Education Standards for Financial Assistance Program formula as applied to each institution.
iii. Additionally, student athletes may not receive financial aid or monetary disbursement of any kind directly from the NCRHA program he/she represents nor from any booster club or sponsor affiliated with the NCRHA hockey program. Scholarships directly awarded by the NCRHA, its member organizations or sponsors of the NCRHA are exempt from this
clause. In addition, independent scholarships provided by organizations such as high school leagues are permissible provided that they do not require the recipient to attend a specific NCRHA program.
iv. Failure to adhere to the financial aid policy will result in immediate suspension of membership benefits in the NCRHA for a one-year period. The Board of Directors will review and act upon requests for reinstatement.

IMHO, if someone were to form a 501c3 to support a CRH program, they would apply to have this rule modified and it would be taken out of the LOM. (Or an exception would be granted by the DLO.)
Do you have an opinion on this?
My two cents......... if UMSL is funding there players tuition than they have violated the rules. but if Lindenwood is funding there players from the school funds than they are OK. LU is like a DIV one school with all the funding for tuition, travel, hotels, rink time and uniforms competing against club sports teams. The NCRHA has all club sports teams but one, LU who has run away with the National championship every year. I do not understand why there are more and more rules against the club teams. For instance the 5 year rule why stop a student from playing a club sport while they are working on there degree. Why can't teams use 501c funding for there proram?![]()
