    great plains weekend #1

what are the games people want to see?

i'm looking forward to playing truman again. last seasons games were so intense. the championship was probably the most exciting game i've every been a part of. i don't know what their roster is going to look like, but i imagine they will be just as good.

with all the new teams in d2 and what appears to be a lot of cross divisional play, the standings should be pretty interesting.

Definitely our (WASH U) most difficult starting schedule. Should be interesting.

yeah, playing lindenwood and umsl is going to be a joke. if they decide to try it'll be over in 5 minutes.but Vail said he might try so we might get a couple more minutes of playing time.

Our (Truman's) first 3 games are against SLU, MO State, and LU - three teams that we had great games with last year.

I'm stoked to play LU again. The 7-2 score last season doesn't show how close and competitive of a game that actually was. We've picked up a couple freshmen which should compensate for our loss of Moody. Additionally, we do have 9 returning players.

Should be a very interesting first weekend.

I'm looking forward to TSU-LU. It's impossible to replace a player who is impossible to cover, but I look to Truman St. to try and trap the NCRHA's best team and try to eek out a win against LU. Pecher's a gamer and TSU's big boys are entering their 3rd and 4th years of play and should be bigger and stronger than ever. As always, I expect a win from LU, but I think this game will be closer than last year's 7-2 matchup. LU, as always, has serious firepower up front and at D but aren't as strong in goal as they've been in the past. Even so, the lions should be able to eventually wear down the 'dogs. This is the game of the opening weekend if I have to pick...

The other game that I am looking forward to on our side of things is our first game against SCC. Everything points to this being a potential upset if our boys aren't careful. SCC is a hungry, talented, well-coached team and I certainly wouldn't be too surprised if they won, as historically we have been awful in early-morning matchups. Then again, it may just come down to who decided to forego the halloween parties from the night before. Either way, in talking to a couple of SCC guys, they are looking to prove that they are ready to compete for another national title against the second best team in the country and think (for good reason) that they have a great shot at catching the Tritons off guard and showing just how good they are.

This weekend should be great, I am looking forward to it.

Last year's LU-Truman game was close until almost midway through the third period.

Truman led 1-0 before Travis Fudge scored on a breakaway off a terrible turnover to tie it 1-1, then Truman took a 2-1 lead early in the second before LU tied it on a delayed penalty 5-on-4 late in the second, then took the lead on a shorthanded goal in the last minute of the second. It was only a 3-2 Lindenwood lead entering the third until Danny Frey scored at 4:20 and Michael Inouye scored at 5:35 (at which point the game was pretty much over).

Pecher was great, and Truman's skaters stepped up in that game from top to bottom. It was their fourth game of the weekend, they'd already lost to UMSL and SLU, but they still competed.

LU had at least two goals during delayed penalty calls in that game (including the tying goal in the second period). One thing they always do is take full advantage of delayed penalties.

Overall, it was one of the most exciting games of the GPCIHL season last year.

I am looking forward to Murray state vs. Southern Ilinois. I have always pondered the question as to whether a greyhound would beat a thoroughbred in a straight stretch without a rabbit to chase and with fouls being called for collisions. I thank the league for finally settling this matter. Andrew Beyer will be there for analysis

Murray state has dropped out for this season. that makes 11 DII teams. Will every DII team get to play the other 10 teams at least once? (10 games devoted to DII?) Will it be split up into 2 conferences?
