Winchester 3 vs. 3 ironman series

The Winchester Sportsplex, here in Funchester, is holding a tournament series from September through March.

It's going to consist of one tournament per month. Most of the dates are projected to be towards the end of the each month. The first taking place September 20th. March will be the finals.

Incase you haven't played a 3 on 3 tournament: each game is two 6 minute run time periods, the last minute of the game will be stop clock within 1 goal (i think). sorry, if i'm wrong about that. you're allowed 3 skaters and a goalie; no subs. you're goalie can change from tournament to tournament but players can not.

cost is 120 per team per tournament. whoever accumulates the most points from the tournaments, all the way through march, wins the cash prize. something like 10 bucks per entry fee of teams, from all 6 tournaments.

another thing is, if your team wins, and took part in at least 5 of the events, you get 50$ added to the cash prize, and if you play in all 6 tournaments, you'll receive custom jerseys compliments of the sportsplex.

you have to take part in at least 4 tournaments to win.

    hope to see you there!

So lets see here, let's say you play every single one of them (six). And lets say you get around 8 teams a tourney. So your putting in $720 to win around $530 and some jerseys(that's if you win). Hmmmmm not good on the return on investment, shoot you don't even get your money back. I think you need to have better prizes if you want a better outing.

Now if you go with something like $10 from each player, that'll get you more teams and a much better prize at the end. Going with what i said earlier, you'd end up giving a top prize of $1920 and no jersey. Also, you have a full size rink from what i remember, why don't you make it a 4 on 4 with a goalie, more money to you and the prizes.

Thanks for the ideas Tekkaman. Our facility does run 4v4 ironmans too. This is the first time we have added a cash prize to any of our tournaments so joisyan and I are trying to increase turnout to give everyone some competitive hockey. The custom jerseys will probably be from Ace Jerseys so you'll be getting a quality jersey if you do compete in all 6 regular season events.

I will make a few additions to joisyan's post. You will be allowed to name an alternate in case one of your main players gets injured and is not able to participate in an event. Also, the championships in March are open to whoever partcipates in at least 4 events but the championships are simply another event. Let me explain. It won't help you to go into the championships if you won all 6 regular season events and it won't hurt you if you finished last in 4 events. It will be a round-robin format with a 3 game guarantee, just like the regular season. Sure, you'll be able to trash talk the other teams and brag about how you finished first in every regular season event but if you lose the championship game, well, you won't get a second place prize . All prize money will go to the champions so choose your team carefully and skate hard every second.

eh... well, look at it this way. how many tournaments have you played in, where all you got in return was a T-shirt? or maybe some wheels? or nothing at all? at least this way, you're getting cash, and playing some great games.
