Anyone care to make a wager on whom the to be named later commissioner of the AIHL will be?
I think it's safe to say it will be Flynn.

I hope its Flynn. He's awesome for the sport and has done an incredible amount of work in PIHA in general, not to mention running a great team and putting on a show during home games. But whoever gets that title needs to be someone with experience and someone who knows the direction the league needs to go in.
I'm not saying people can't change. But, I say be very careful. Flynn has burned more bridges than the North did in the Civil War. He has left behind a path of mass destruction and broken promises.
It's my understanding that the "comish" will be someone with no ties to any teams playing in the league. However, team managers (owners) will be voted on a committee to manage decisions concerning the league. I think this is important.
I also understand that in the future, team managers wish to form a players committee so that the players can be heard, and be a part of the decisions made by the league. This sounds like it will be a consolidated effort to allow all involved to determine what direction the league takes. I think this will give investors/managers/players more "bang-for-the-buck". Players/Managers may not always get what they want, but at least they will be heard. This is something roller hockey has needed for a long time.
I have not heard, and I am interested in how they handle discipline in the league. Refs? Managers? Anyone know?
which bridges would that be? and what promises did he break? I would be interested to hear this. As a GM of our team, he's pretty much followed through on everything, and none of us have ever had to pay a dime in the 4 years I have been there. Sure this past season we had an investor that covered everything. But Flynn busts his ass for the team and the league. I dont know what happened with the new league, and to be honest i don't really care. The players (not only the owners) were unhappy with PIHA, is the AIHL the answer? probably not, but it can't be worse and hey the players play where the owners put our teams.
Flynner is a lot of things... he's bad at pong, bad at growing hair and tanning etc.but he does bust his ass for our team and whatever league we have been in. Maybe the bridge he burned was with you, maybe not. But if he was such a bad dude, then why were the owners up his butt last season to get things done if he never comes through.
Think about it...
I don't know if he will be the new commish or not, again, i don't really care, but if he was... i'm sure that the season would run pretty smoothly.

Yeah Flynn has been nothing more then a saint when it comes to things getting done. His team always puts on a top notch show, he knows how to respond in a timely fashion to peoples concerns (even when it wasn't even his job to be entertaining such phone calls). I don't know where these "bridges burned" come in but the ONLY problem I have with Flynn is on a sunny day... when the light hits his head just right... damn, get your sun glasses out... :-)
I think the commish should not be a team owner, but someone the owners vote on having. Gary Bettman was never a team owner. He worked his way up through the NBA marketing and legal ranks before being voted the NHL Commissioner.
I don't know Flynn, so I am not trying to take anything away from him. I've only heard good things. And if there is no one out there who wants to be commissioner, who doesn't have connections with a specific team, then maybe he would be a good front runner.
I think the only problem in getting a commissioner who is not an owner or related to a certain team, is that they would probably want some pay for their job. If that's the case, the league might have to get an owner to be commissioner for a couple of seasons.

I am the Batm... er... new commissioner.
