If any of you pro guys get to skate on the new revision boot over the summer ... make sure you let the rest of us know how it performs.

Looks like a 100mm back wheel ... which seems crazy ...

I saw the skate - That sure is one big a$$ wheel back there. Kind of reminds me of a dragster.



I'm really curious what people think about how it skates. It is such a drastic change from the norm that, I would think, one would want to try a pair before purchasing.

I had a nice long chat with Nabeel over the new skate at NARCh last week - they are still testing, but if you look at the math and the physics of the technology, bigger wheels equal more speed with less energy used from the players perspective.

Though the average wheel size increases to only 82mm (Mission 78, Tour 80)its still going to be faster through turns and better for stops - including the profile and style of Revisions wheels with the right durometer, it will improve the right skaters speed and stopping! It will also give the heavier player more stability and based on how they stand, not chunk wheels as easy.

Overall I feel they will REVolutionize the inline skate again - I can't wait....

I'm not sold on it, but it'd be interesting to see the results of some high-speed photography studies on wheel deformation and contact patches through phases of the stride, coast, turn and stop.

I see the big wheel shift in speed skates as a big help to them because it makes the road surface seem smoother, which has a big impact on how fast you can go - but we play on pretty smooth surfaces.

a thing with such a big wheel is how the skater's stance is going to be effected. those couple degrees put you in a more aggressive stance for skating forward and making it easier to gain speed.

i could see it working ok if it was designed well, but it is a huge change from what we are all use to. i only imagine skating on it would feel different the first few goes. im interested, but still skeptical.

I llike the overall look of the skate and the frame and ginormous wheel doesn't bother me too much. It looks like it would take some adjustment. But what I really hate about the skate is that the boot looks excessively bulky and heavy.

does anyone know if there is just one skate, or a line with different qualities. ex. mission's boss, lieutenant, assassin, soldier etc.

it does look to be a bit heavy and i wonder how stiff the boot is or supportive

I still think one of the best chassis that ever hit the market was the Nexed 2 degree hi/lo chassis. In terms of adding speed....big wheels are ok once you get going, and do add more bite (wheel to floor surface area) for stopping, but the most important issue in hockey speed is almost always the ability to accelerate. The inward angled front wheel of the 2 degree Nexed chassis (Apollo?), definitely allowed for a more extended and therefor stronger toe-kick than the traditional vertically oriented wheel, netting better overall acceleration.

I personally saw my son beat a kid in a one lap race by a significant amount, as soon as he switched to this skate/chassis...a kid he had never beaten before...and this pattern continued..it was not just a one time event...Those chassis followed him through several pairs of boots.

Maybe Revision should consider leasing that patent from whoever owns it and add it to their new design. I think if they just angled the front wheel inward a little, it would accomplish a lot.
