    Deadline Has Passed: AIHL TEAMS

I know the deadline passed for teams to commit for 2008-2009 AIHL season. Is there a final list of teams yet. Just curious to see how many teams we have and who the new teams are.

We definitely wanted to put a team in but with no teams being south of SC, I just didn't seeing it being possible because the closest team to us would be them at 8 hours away. Really sucks too because we'd have free rink time and a couple team owners with really deep pockets. The exact opposite situation I've had to deal with in the past. Figures, always somethin right...

if the league is being run like the NCRHA, then location really is not that big of an issue because there would be festivals where teams go to a given location for a group of games over a weekend. You should have your owner contact someone in the league and find out if this is true.

Parkway Arena - You currently have South Carolina Pirates that have committed to the league.

I'm the new owner of the rink, I just signed a 2-year lease with the option to buy the place. The potential owners of the team would be a couple guys that have deep pockets via real estate, a club, and multiple car dealerships. They don't have any interest in running the team but we have that covered through a local player here who wants to do it. I'll look into it and find out what's up. If that's the case, they're gonna want to get in. I'm way too busy to get involved, my priorities have shifted back to the grassroots levels so I likely won't be playing in these leagues anymore.

Who are the Virginia Militia? Where are they located out of? Is this a former PIHA or MLRH club or a new program?

I believe they are playing out of Williamsburg, at the WISC This is where the Williamsburg Warriors of old were playing. I don't know if it's suppose to be the same players from the MLRH of a couple years ago, or all new faces. We'll have to see. I think someone said there are some returning players, but a lot of new guys too.

All of the above is correct. There are some players from the Warriors, some from the Hampton Roads Destroyers, a couple from other PIHA/MLRH programs, and some new faces.

I am the coach of the Virginia Militia and we're looking forward to the coming season.
