BEST WOMEN’S DIVISION IN THE HISTORY OF THIS SPORT
Some people measure quality of an event by numbers. Others measure it by talent within the division. The Women’s Division at the 2008 NARCh Finals has both, and it’s never been deeper.
Eighteen teams will be participating in this division. From the U.S. there are teams from California, Hawaii, Colorado, and Michigan. Representing Canada are teams from Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia. International Teams include France, Brazil, Mexico, and Japan.
As most of the teams in this division are already aware, gold and platinum will be one division, and then split after the round robin. Over the past few years we’ve seen a decrease in platinum and an increase in gold. Since there is no qualifying process, some of the gold teams could beat the platinum teams. Perception of where teams belong and where they truly belong became two different things, so combining this division for the round robin and then splitting it into two divisions for playoffs is the best solution.
This will truly be an incredible division. The girls division will also be solid, with 6 teams competing.
If there is one drawback it will be that since the division is so large, and other divisions playing within their block are larger, game times will not always be optimal. Who’s bringing the coffee????
Look for the complete TEAM LIST for the tournament on Friday, June 27.
Sincerely,
Richard Graham
