Re: Who's switched from old (Hi-Low) to new (all 80mm) TOUR skates!?!
I'm kind of mixed, I've loved the weight, stiffness and comfort of the Tour Code Carbon skates, and it didn't take very long to adjust to the straight 80mm setup.
That said, I think my next pair of skates will be hi-lo again. Skating in a straight line feels fine with the 80's and I can get relatively low, but leaning over when crossing over feels strange just because of how high up I feel. I think crossovers felt better on hi-lo's and I could generate more power with them.
Also, just a wear issue - on the Carbon's at least - the tongue's hard plastic outer (which is to help prevent lace bite) eventually cracks and digs into your foot if you lace your skates up tight, so I've started having to leave mine pretty loose to avoid that.
