SUNY Fredonia joining the ecrha DII

I'm the president of the Fredonia state roller hockey team and we entering the 2008 season in the ecrha DII empire. Were just trying to get everything in order right now. I was just wondering a few questions, how much do you guys pay to play, because were going to be running about $600 per player, thats alot. Also, has anyone really done fundraising, if so which is the best way to go? Are sublimated jerseys the best way to go for jerseys, because we were thinking micromesh with screen print, because it cheaper. Where does everyone get there pants from. We were just planing on going through the deal with mission, because again, cheaper. Last thing, about how many times a week does everyone practice, we were going to go for about 3 or 4 a week, but i dont know if thats too much or not enough, because for ice, we practice 5 times a week and we got sick of it after a while.
Just like any suggestions on how to raise money would be great, thanks.

Drexel was $300 last year, plus uniform costs if you didn't have one.

Whatever jerseys/pants are cheapest and fit the DII rules requirements (check the rulebook) would work. When/if you have the cash, Ace makes a quality product.

Drexel practiced 2 times a week. A lot of schools do once a week or have some informal stuff. Whatever works for you. I can say that 3-4 times a week with only 5-6 weekends of games can wear on you. Playing PIHA provided a good reason to practice. I don't know if I could've handled the 3 practices a week plus games if I only had an ECRHA schedule... Just food for thought.

First off, welcome to the ECRHA.

Hofstra guys pay about $350 a guy, plus uniforms (you buy them as a freshman, and they are good for the 4+ years you are there) and hotels.

The upside of sublimated was that you can reorder from year to year, and you're guaranteed that the design will be there. If Manufacturer X stops making whatever design it is you have, you're screwed in future years. But, at least for a start (figure 1-2 years) it works fine. We worked with concretepond.com back in the day, and they were great. That was back in 2002 or so. For pants, we use Ace as well, although we may or may not be going custom through Tour next year. I don't remember what the Mission deal was, but I know that was relatively cheap, and a few other companies have some relatively inexpensive ones as well, such as http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/descpage-RP4KS.html

Just remember that come next year, all of htese companies will have different designs for their pants, so be prepared to either order a whole new set next year, or order a few extras this year and hope that they last, since it will be nearly impossible to find them again a year from now. Whatever you do, just remember that simple is better (at least as far as I'm concerned...)!

As far as practice goes, we practice only once-twice a week, due mostly to cost constraints and rink availability. We worked out a deal to make open hockey available for free to all of our players last year, plus a lot of guys play on other teams and stuff. I would love to practice more, don't get me wrong, but for most guys, more than two would be a killer. I don't know where or what you guys are doing for practice (if you could elaborate here, it would help), but if you're practicing at a rink, maybe cutting back could help with the costs as well.

If you don't mind me asking, where is that $600 per guy going? And how many guys do you plan on taking on the team? What's the interest like up there? I also might be able to get you in touch with someone up there who would know a few hockey players, PM me for that info.
