    Skate modifications

hey all, kind of a dumb question but how tight should the screws in your wheels be? the screws that keep the wheels connected to the frame

As tight as they can be without restricting the spinning of the wheels. Personal preference also plays a role though. I like to keep mine relatively loose so that there is no unneeded friction. Wheels tend to loosen up though due to vibrations, etc. during skating so be wary of keeping them too loose.

You really shouldn't have to crank them down too hard to get the axles to stay in place though. If you have to do this go grab some teflon tape or loctite and apply it to your axles to keep them from coming loose too easily.

loctite helps for sure. As stated, i keep mine as tight as i can while still keeping the wheels spinning freely with no extra friction. I also keep an allen on the bench at all times just in case they loosen up too much.

I've lost an axle/screw and had wheels come off from having them too loose in the past. So now I use loctite and keep the allen with me to be safe.

on the loctite though, make sure you get the blue stuff, which is like a temporary bond. They have other stuff (red maybe), that is like damn near permanent adhesive bond and you'd have to cut it off probably. lol
