Leg Pad straps

Hey guys, looking for some advice for the straps on my RBK 6K leg pads. There are only 5 straps on it, and coming from a pad where I used to wear the straps tighter, i was unpleased with the amount of wiggle room I had in the 6k's. The reason is simple, the top two straps (right below the knee and one slightly above are way too long and cannot be tightened. I was thinking of swapping it out for a smaller strap, so I can atleast tighten it to where i dont feel the pad is going to fall off going into the butterfly, however am having trouble doing that. My next idea was to simply cut the strap and poke a hole at the appropriate place to get the right type of tension that I want in the strap. My worry is that the strap will tear and snap during the game. Have any of you had this problem as well, or can you tell me a quick fix for this. Other than that I love the pads, graphics and amount of protection it gives me. Just wish I could tighten em up a little more. Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, the entire design of that RBK line is for a looser fit to help with pad rotation. This is the the correct way to wear the pad to allow for maximum rotation, coverage and relief of stress on your ankles and knees.

When I first started playing I used to wear my pads fairly tight as well. Eventually, (especially when going to ice) I learned to loosen them up to make the pad work better for me.

Its definitely personal preference and when I wanted to make a pad tighter and there weren't proper holes for it on the strap, I would take a hole punch and a hammer and make new ones. A hole punch will be best to make a clean hole in the pad and reduce the chance of tearing.

You might also be able to fold the strap back along itself (at the opposite side of the buckle end) to shorten it up and run a zip tie through the overlapping holes that you could always cut if you ever changed your mind about the tightness of the strap.
