    Skate mod question

I'm looking for a new goal skate boot but I'm not interested (at present) in parting with my chasis because I'm satisfied with it.

With that in mind, does anyone know which of the following two options might be the best all-around solution considering cost, functionality and all of the like?

    • dropping a goalie boot into my current chasis/cowling setup
    • hacking my ice goal skate blades and having my roller chasis mounted to that cowling (I've considered this in the past but not sure if it's the best option)

...or if there are other similar options out there that I'm not thinking of, please advise.

    Thanks,

    I've done both.

Assuming you're able to find a boot sold on its own, and provided it fits your current cowling (these are often brand-specific), that's the better option of the two.

Otherwise you'll probably be forced to mod and remount against an ice skate (which is considerably more expensive).

Thanks- I figured about as much. I guess I'll have to mull it over a bit...

    Hey Ryan-

saw your delemma. IF you decide to go the mod route, I can provide you a link that will walk you step by step through the process (unfortunately since I am new to the board, I am not apparantly allowed to post links). I followed this when I modified my Koho Titanium 560s from ice to inline, because i couldnt find an inline skate to fit my super wide feet properly. I have had these modified skates now for over a year and have not had any issues- nor have had to make any adjustments. The way Dorian (c0nquistad0rian) did the mods makes sure there is nothing in the footbed to make a comfortable fit. Took me about an hour-ish to make the mods and less than $10 for the hardware!

send me an email at [email protected] and I will get you the link.

Good luck whatever route you go.

    Billy

ps- if you are a 59mm wheel guy and have the Tuuk chasis that only support the 47mm wheels, you can search the site i will send you and there are mods to make a Tuuk chassis fit a boot to accomdate the bigger wheels

Thanks for the info Billy. If I decide to go that route, I'll be in touch.
