Any matchups or predictions you guys looking forward to?
*JMU choked last weekend, which means with a win from UF they win the division and get the auto-bid to nationals.

Secrhl will have good matchups in D1 with everybody playing each with Broward included.
After how NC St, JMU played this last weekend it could open the door wide for UCF, USF, FIU,FSU for nationals with UF as a lock. I personally believe 4 of these teams will be appearing at nationals this year a lot riding on the next 2 weekends.
while this is probably going to start some sort or long chain about which league is stronger, i have a few points why i would be surprised to see four teams come out of the south east
1) JMU is most likely finishing 2nd or 3rd in the league and lost to both Army and Towson, teams that will be finishing between 5th and 7th in the ECRHA
2)even if the south is a stronger conference as many claim, JMU beat FSU 7-2 in one game and lost 7-4 in another, which lead to the logical conclusion that they would have faired the same against the ecrha teams.
3) they also beat south florida 11-4, who is tied with FIU and CF at .500
4) VTech lost several close games all season to the southern teams but lost to Towson 8-1 and allowed Army their first shut-out in school history.
again, i'm not trying to spark a contest over which is the better league, but to say 4 teams will come from the southeast seems like a stretch to me
Army Defense,
Agreed. There's a big difference between "choking" and getting beat 10-1 vs the 5th place team from another region.
Not to offend anywhere here, but I'm going to have to agree with these guys. We rolled over the three teams we played this past weekend down south, winning by a combined score of 27-2. I understand that the southern teams of the SECRHL are likely better than the northern teams, but I don't know how anyone could justify taking four teams from that region.

Few facts to point out...
V-Tech finished in last place in the SE, so a victory over this team cannot be related to a victory over a SE team in general.
JMU is not going to regionals, so you can take them out of the equation.
5 of the 7 D1 teams invited to regionals are from the Southern Conference.
The SECRHL is awful. 4 teams in D1 at nationals, are you kidding me?!
My boys Towson just went down there and destroyed every team they played. I'd give 2 bids to the SECRHL: Florida and one other.
Breakdown should be as follows:
ECRHA - 4
SECRHL - 2
GPCRHL - 3
MCRHL - 4/5
WCRHL - 3
RMCRHL - 2
SCHL - 1 (if they even still exist?)
Again, your boys from Towson did NOT play anyone from the Southern conference! All 5 teams from the southern conference: UF, FSU, FIU, USF, and UCF all deserve and will be eligible for a bid. Excluding UF, all the teams are .500, why? Because they all beat up on eachother.
Army and FIU played twice in exhibition, and they both won games by 1 goal. Now if Army played UF, I would have to say it would be a little more lopsided towards UF. When Army played the nothern conference this weekend it was lopsided for them.
So using your logic...
Army > FIU
UF > FIU > Army > Northern Conference.
Since you say that FIU, UCF, FSU and USF are all equal cause they beat each other up...
So that would mean that
FIU, UCF, FSU and USF are = Army
Well, standings wise...
Rhode Island, Buffalo, Stony Brook, Towson, Penn State and Rutgers are all better than Army and there is zero chance that the ECRHA gets 6 bids in DI.
Make sense?
Army played FIU with a different roster due to ineligibilites at school and other players who were in Germany last semester.
Also, it was a concrete, outdoor rink, so the puck moved slower and rolled randomly, making it a much different game. Anyone from all 4 schools would agree.
I would agree with the breakdown of NYR1199 except I feel the 5th out of the ECRHA is more likely than MCRHL.
And also using your logic, Army is above .500, and you know why? because 4 losses come from StonyBrook and Rutgers. So Army deserves to get a bid.
Just because you are in a "tough conference" doesn't make you deserving of a nationals bid. If you win in the regular season, you go to nationals to prove which conference is the best and take the title back home. Yes, while I feel that Army could finish top 4 if somehow we were the only team from the ECRHA to go to nationals (even though we are the 7 seed), the fact of the matter is that we have already shown that StonyBrook and Rutgers are stronger teams than us and are more likely to end up in the championship game. In the SECRHL, by JMU losing to us and Towson in the regular season as the top team in the northern conference, they showed they are less likely to advance at nationals than SBU and Rutgers. While UF may be better than Army, FSU is essentially equal to JMU based on their head-to-head. So, It is unlikely to see more than 2 teams from the league at nationals, let alone 4.

well from what i understand at winternats the fiu team that was there was practically the B team with a few A players and army stll needed OT to win. and thats from a reliable source. so in my opinion army is clearly below all the SE teams mentioned
Florida only beat FSU by one goal (5-4 ?) Hardly a "sound defeat" and I don't think anyone would argue that UF is the best team in the SE. So...that speaks volumes for the parity in the league. You also have several 1-1 head-to-head records over the course of this season between the DI teams. Should make for a great couple of weeks of hockey, including regionals.
USF vs FSU should be a good matchup this weekend (since they haven't played each other yet). Hopefully both teams will have their "full roster" so it will be a true indication on where the two teams rank.
I still don't know why BCC is playing the DI schools this close to the end of the season, when they (BCC) already has a bid (they are the only DIII school) and the DI rankings could really be sorted out if they had all four games against each other in Beachton. BCC is a great team...not suggesting they aren't "up to the DI level", just saying that the rankings could be more sorted out by more DI-DI match ups.
I BIG unknown in the SE division is the officiating. Wow...talk about inconsistant. Game-to-game, period-to-period, north conference to south conference. All I can say is wow.
Not saying the officiating TALENT is better/worse in the north, but the game management is far superior.
