    Searching...

    Question...

I am trying to do a search and I get an error that says I need to include at least four words in my search. Doesn't that seem odd? What if I am searching for something very specific?

Lets say for example I want to search for "sprung chassis" and I want to search subject titles, not the entire thread. Any other words that I put in the title will only reduce, or elimanate complete any possible threads that I would be interested in reading....right?

I am not REALLY searching for sprung chassis, just used that as an example.

Okay...now I am REALLY confused. I searched for something else WITH 4 words and it still didn't work.

    I am losing my mind...

I think what it says is that all words you're searching for need to be at least four letters long....

If not, give me a link to where you're searching because I looked at both of the search links I found and didn't see this message.

    This is what it says...

"The search term you specified (for) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific."

    Mike,

You were right. I guess I just didn't read it carefully...maybe you could chnage "(4)" to "(4 characters)" and then dummies like me would be able to figure it out! haha

    My bad!

    Re: Searching...

    Good point.

Another thing to note is that you can search for phrases by surrounding them with quotes (same as Google or any other search engine):

    For example, searching for
    "Rink Rat"
will likely give you very different results from
    Rink Rat
since in the first example, it's looking for those two words next to (or at least very close to) each other, and in the second it doesn't care where they appear in the thread (they don't have to be adjacent).

In the case of phrases, you can use search words that are less than four letters long, so
    "Dave Alvarez is terrible"
would be a valid search, while
Dave Alvarez is worse than terrible
    would give you an error.
