    Best Puck Handling Goalie?

Im new to this IHC thing but I have seen a few PIHA games and thought I would get on, I have noticed a few goalies are good at handling the puck, and others are not. Who does everything think is a good puck handler?

    Hi Rookie

Welcome to IHC; I would say i am the best puck handling goalie, but my team doesn't give me the chance to ever play the puck.

Mitch Harden of the Bandits and Matt Pamidi of the Mustangs. Both unreal with the puck...

In my opinion the best puck handling goalies are the ones that dont handle the puck. Why even attempt it? We all know that somewhere during the course of the season the adventurous goalies will cost a goal or two in a crucial game. It can be an advantage at times to have a goalie do it to set up a breakout, while on the powerplay or when time is short and you are down a goal. No question there, but is it worth the risk? If the goalie can do it from his crease or from around the sides of his crease without exploring too far, that is where the advantage lies.

There is nothing funnier in the hockey world than watching a goaltender attempt to toe-drag a player behind his own net... especially when he turns it over and has to rush back into the crease from around the post...

    I respectfully disagree.

This is the funniest thing in the hockey world. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy might I add.

i played in a tournament for fun up in Oakville, Canada a couple years ago. they were mostly ameteur ice players that played inline for fun. and let me tell you, those goalies could out deke half of the players i've seen, in full equipment. they were cool guys, skate circles around you on the floor and take you out drinking later after the games. during the games they'd pass to the goalie regularly; just to draw a player back and then the goalie would headman a pass for an oddman rush. and the goalies were incredible. there was a team hyper, team synergy, and two teams that i cant remember the names.

Don't want to toot too much here, but my experience as a defenseman (currently) for my college team while a goalie for my PIHA team naturally lends itself to helping with the stickhandling. I actually have more points for the 495ers this year than I do for Hofstra. Hmm...

I watched Mitch Hardin do a toe drag behind the net against one of the TOP 87's in the country in a national tournament during a penalty kill. Coach Roux was about to kill him after that but it was pretty funny....

I would have to say Matt Beam of the Knights. I have seen the defensemen actually use him in the penality kill when working the puck from behind the net.

I love playing the puck but it's not something that comes into play a lot in inline games.
You don't really have someone dumping the puck in and then racing for it like in ice hockey most times. Since there are no offsides you instead have guys carrying the puck in, making a pass to a man already in the zone, or the defense coming up with the puck on the blue line when the O is already setup in the zone.

I'll still settle down the odd puck behind the net and make the outlet pass if needed but most of the time it's better to just stay in the net and stay out of the defenses way in acutal game situations.

    I love these threads.....

Best Puck Handling...tough one - Mitch is a good choice, I'll go with Pete Pennecke though, sorry

Hardest shot - Kyle D'Aloisio, after he gives up a goal (200 feet per second)
