Top Female Skaters in the Counrty?

I have not been in the mix, since I coached the Washington Spin in 2000.

Who are the players that are on fire or team.

I really enjoyed coaching the Spin and wish we had a pro league for woman again.

Let me know I am wondering who it is.

Re: Top Female Skaters in the Counrty?

let me address this in terms of programs...

East Fishkill, and the Manini program in Hawaii put together good club programs for girls and women. Mt. Hood used to have a good quality 18's program.

Rich Furia has done absolute magic with the girls of Colorado Springs area. The Eagles in Cincinnati (the Hegel sisters, et al) had good 18's teams for a number of years.

All the girls who graduated from Northwestern U over the past decade still play on/off at national events.

In the 90's, the Toronto Typhoon (later, Franklyn Typhoon) and the L.A. Riot (later Tour Riot) were the best in the world.

Programs who pyramid and hold try-outs like the Cal Selects, the Assebet Valleys (sp?), the Connecticut Polar Bears, et al, actually drive lesser skilled players out of the sport, rather than help develop the sport. There are a lot of these programs, especially in California. They actively recruit, they do teach, but they do not take marginal players, and they do not develop any lesser skilled players up to their level.

Phil over there in Michigan also used to work with a bunch of girls' teams, but I have been out of touch for a while.

As with their male counterparts, NY/NJ/PA, Florida, Texas, California, the Mid-west, Colorado, the Northwest...there are pockets of high-level, very good female players all over the place...If somebody would/could put together a viable women's semi-pro league, they would come out of the woodwork.

    I guarantee it.

Brittany Johnson from Deerfield Beach , FL is one of the best girls I've ever seen play the game.
