What's going on in Northern California?

What's going on up in Northern California since Pacific Cup is gone? Where are teams like Water City Serpents, Reebok Patriots, Silicon Valley Quakes, Dry Ice Dragons, CCSA Rage, and Nor Cal Extreme playing their tournaments? Do all of these teams still exist? Somebody fill me in. Please, I gots to know.

Not sure what really happened to both Topcat and Pacific Cup, but very unfortunate for alot of kids on the central coast/north county. My kid played on the CCSA Rage 93 team and now I don't know what to do. I don't mind playing tournaments down south, but making that drive all the time will be hard with gas prices as they are. I can only speak for Rage 93, we lost 3 players, one moved to San Diego, another moved out of state and the third started HS and now plays for the HS team. I have looked on some websites for Water city, Patriots, etc, and cannot find any info on upcoming tournaments. Seems that Orange County/San Diego is it for now.

Here's the reply I received from Water City when I e-mailed them with your question:

"Water City will do what it has always done - continue to look for well run tournaments to participate in."

Sounds difficult, if there aren't any tournaments, doesn't it?

Hello Everyone!

Six Pac USA will be hosting a tournament in Davis, CA. I know this is just as far, however we are making an atempt to come back to CA and provide some fun, competitive tournaments for facilities that are interested and will support the date(s) they feel good about putting on Calendar.

Six Pac started in 1995 in California with 5 other rink operators, and we would be happy to participate in this great state again, if teams are wanting to play will be there.

Our Nationals will be held in CO this season on June 25-29, 08 and formating will be a bit differnet than the normal with one qualifier / Select making it do~ able for most to attend.

I'm from the San Jose area and have kids who play on two of the teams you asked about.
Our home rink, Rollin Ice, at the Silver Creek Sportsplex in San Jose, has stepped up to the plate and started a tournament series in conjunction with PIHA. The first tournament after Christmas went off without a hitch. They plan to have about one tournament a month. We would love to have some Southern California teams come and play. The new Rollin Ice is an amazing facility.

Most Northern California teams will be making several trips to LA. The Quakes and the Mission Rampage attended the AAU Winter Nationals and the Patriots and the Mustangs (a new team made up of many ex-Patriot players) will be attending the NARCh Winternationals.

Pacific Cup Hockey has recently suspended its operations and Top Cat's Pat Greenwell did the same in late 2007. This may due, in part, by the start-up of WIHA (www.westerninline.com) - an organization of 6 SO CA rinks banded together to run their own league and tournament schedule.
