Stats for SECRHL

Guys,

Whats up with the negative stats for shots against in the uploaded stats.

And why does it take so long to upload? It's been about three weeks, and only 2 games so far.

Sometimes the scorekeeper doesn't record shots, so you could potentially have more goals against than shots against.

Im just curious, as I try to keep track of my progress through a season. It's kinda hard computing my Save Percentage when theres negatives.

Realizitically, save percentage is the only stat that matters for a goaltender. If it's below 90% then you should be replaced.

If your winning with a 70% save percentage, then you should be replaced. No sense in riding that goaltender into the playoffs when he will let you down against the weaker teams.

And right now, it doesn't look good for me.

First of all, I can guarantee your save % is below .900. Second, save percentage for a roller hockey goalie cannot be judged with the same criteria as an ice hockey goalie. There is generally twice as much scoring in roller than ice. A .900 save percentage for a roller hockey goalie is still pretty good and well above average. An .850 save percentage for a roller goalie is about average while an .850 for an ice goalie is rather poor. Plus number (GAA or Save %) doesn't really show how good a goalie is.

True, but considering I don't like pulling the puck out the back of the net I'd like to see if it's a problem on my end (which I have a feeling it is) or someother reason.

If My GAA is at 9, and I am saving 80%, I really don't know how to look at it.

But if my GAA is at 9, and I am at 50, or 60....then please run me over in your Rav-4 next practice.

Unfortunately, shots on goal were not recorded by the score keeper for the Ft. Myers event.

I am really bad a math but if you say your GAA is 9 (which sounds about right, give or take 1 goal) and you say your save % is at .800, that means you are facing 45 shots a game?!? I highly doubt that.

It was a "IF" my save percentage is at 80, but I think its at 70 to be honest.

And I think my GAA is at closer to 6 or 7 then 9 or 10.

Like I said, I said I was hoping to find out the number of shots per game for the last weekend, because then I would be able to judge myself better.

Too bad who ever runs the stats thought I started all 4 games.

I only played the last 2 periods of the UCF and Tampa game, and the Whole FSU.

So my GAA is shot in the league, and since theres no shots recorded, somehow I lost some saves.

To be honest, I know I am playing poorly. But am I playing as bad as I think, or does it just seem that way.

If I were you i wouldnt bother checking the stats on the website. It says i've played 6 games with a save % of .363. I must have the lowest save percentage in the Nation. Well at least they gave me 4 goals against USF, a games that not only I didnt play, but was asleep at the hotel.

They shouldn't even bother to pretend to take stats if they going to be so inaccurate.

Yea it is ridiculous that they can't take stats.. I mean where does all this money we pay go?

One of the problems with the stats actually lies with the teams. When teams don't turn in accurate roster (as they have been told to do) and teams do not report to the timekeeper prior to the game which goalie is playing, their scratches, etc...how can you expect to have accurate stats. Mistakes will always happen (ref reports wrong number for a goal, etc.) but when the info that WE give the league isn't even accurate, how can we complain?

I c an assure you that the scorekeepers were incompetant.

Its not everday a goalie changes pads and helmets mid game during a 2 minute intermission.

It should have been obvious to the scorekeeper that not once, but twice FIU pulled its starting goaltender. One wears Navy/Silver pads with a red helmet, the other wears White with a plain white helmet.

It also doens't take a rocket scientest to guess when theres a shot on goal, just put a | next to the team name. then cross it at 5.

It also doesnt take one to write down a jersey number after the ref calls it.

They recorded goals/assists. They neglected the goalkeepers. Thats on them, not the coaches or the team leaders.

A goalie is marked on the roster with a G. They wear a unique number. Peak at that jersey when they are skating to the net.

BTW, my SV's are 13, with a GA of 54 and a SV% of 0.193.

I made 38 saves according to the first FSU scoresheet in one game alone.

AND OBIES LISTED AS A GOALIE, common sense dictates that goalies do not score 4 goals in one game.

I currently do most of the stats for the ECRHA, i don't speak for the SECRHL when i say the following. 90% of all stat based errors are in fact, at fault of the teams. It is a teams responsibility to make sure they mark who is the starting goalie before each game and well as make roster adjustments. This could be jersey number's, players playing or not, etc. When teams fail to make these adjustments, the stats are entered to the best of the ability based on the information given. If #4 scores six goals in the game, but is listed on the roster as #22, then someone is going to be given the goals for that player because of incorrect information.

Additionally, in the ECRHA, teams have the ability to check the score sheets at the conclusion of the game to ensure that the correct statistics are recorded. I am not sure of the rules in the SECRHL, but i am sure that your event director would be able to make the changes for you at the event if you took the steps.

I don't know what to say about shots not being recorded, as its in the job description of the timekeeper to record them during the game.

Once again, i don't know how the SECRHL runs things, but these are my insights based on doing the stats for the ECRHA.

I dont know how it works for the Florida tournaments but in the northern part of the SECRHL, JR does the stats himself during the game and Jeff and the other refs do a good job of getting things right. Ive never really seen anyone complain.
