    Hi Blainesi,

It will be interesting to see if Sport Court finds out about this post. A couple of years ago, I received a cease-and-desist letter because rinks in the Links section of IHC mentioned they had Sport Court floors. I thought that was the dumbest move ever, because Sport Court was getting free advertising. But I deleted every mention of Sport Court in Links and everywhere else I could think of on site.

Some lawyers are idiots, right, Catch?

Was the cease and desist letter about non-sport court items being advertised as so, or just any sport court mention?

On what grounds were you requiered to remove the post? Did you or the authors of the posts break any type of infringement rights laws?
That C&D had zero validity. Compare it to Nike telling you to remove an ad that was advertising a pair of their wrist bands, would not happen.
I would have told them to bite me, and given them the number to my counsel.
    Godspeed,

    Hi Blainesi and Showtime,

The grounds, such as they were (I threw the letter away a long time ago), were that the mentions in Links infringed upon their trademark. There was no advertising of any sort going on, just rinks mentioning that, "Hey, we use Sport Court flooring -- come play at our great rink!"

I figured if they were going to be that stupid, I'd be happy to oblige them and delete all references to their product. I fired off a letter to the lawyer, and later let a company representative know how I felt... and I never heard anything back.

If they see this thread and would like to apologize, that would be great.
    Sincerely,
